Amazing paints Scoot. Your edge highlighting skills are stunning. Those Blood Ravens look superb :).

Question - I'm trying to improve my basing details, is that cork tile and sand on the Blood Raven bases?

Thanks all!

For the bases it's just as you said, cork tile and sand around the edges, i sometimes poke a broken paper clip through the cork as well as that looks like rebar.

Not had much to post recently, been grinding away with painting 10 Reavers for my Blood Raven army. Doesnt look very blood raven-y right now as the bone shoulderpad isnt on yet, i've also gone with a darker red as otherwise i think they look too similar to Blood Angels.

I've got the basecoat and washes down, not started layering anything yet as i've had to put these to the side to start on Imperial Fists.

Bit of a before and after here for the captain, one with all the base colours down, and then one with all parts shaded and the gold layered and highlighted.

Loving the uber clean base coating. I have wondered if anyone else puts down all of their base colours cleanly first.

I do prefer putting all my colours down before i start shading or any other layering, i find it realy helps decide which colours to use as i go along, and so i'm less likely to commit to something that i'll later change.

Captain is all sorted now. Not actualy much work to do on the yellow, as most of the edges and intricate details ended up being gold!

He's headless for now as i'm sorting that later with a bunch of other heads.

I dislike doing pure white robes, mostly as i need to shade into grey(i think). I used to shade down into a blue/grey for my ultramarines, but i didnt feel that would work very well here so i just went with a flat white.

10 man Devastator squad is all done now, i'm starting to realise why people hate yellow! Highlighting is a lot more stressful when you need to do everything twice.

Sergeant is headless as they'll be sorted later. Full album here: https://imgur.com/a/LtobJ

I got a bit bored of painting yellow so i painted up an apothacary for my Salamanders over the bank holiday weekend, happy with how the paint job turned out, but not happy with the pose, as it's not very interesting due to the age of the kit.

Cheers both! I'm actualy looking forward to painting green again, much less stressed about making mistakes.

I had a casualty in my last match, one of my old terminators fell appart, apparently i had used plastic glue to stick painted parts togther. So i've used this as an excuse to repaint his main armour as i didnt like my old method (base+drybrush+wash).

I then thought i'd try my hand at some more weathering, not too happy with the sponge i used, left far to many small marks and not enough large ones, i also couldnt get into some areas as i'd already glued him back together.

Edit: here's a before pic as well

Still grinding away on the Centurions, i'd have prefered to do the front bling in gold, but it doesnt contrast very well with the yellow, so i'm going to try a bright silver.

Lovely stuff Scoot. Loving the smooth tonal variations on the yellow. Did you work the shadow back in on top of the base yellow colour. Looks really, really smooth (any hints tips :D).

Great job-tidy work-attractive- tip on using your sponge - after you’ve hit the areas you can “neaten things up 1) by merging like connect the dots. This is how you can make all shapes: sizes of chipping damage. 2) if your having a problem I’d too many small folks you can paintiver them creating a pattern of a more styractive weathering. Other things that you can do is atiple a bit of orange Ryazan rust and sparingly hit the inside of the chips that don’t show metal work through. And barrial Brown it even a darker brown thinned out will create streaks .

I do love me some terminators, wish they had some more interesting poses in the kit though, the space hulk and deathwing termies make the normal ones look boring!

@burdonite, i did do that, i went with a grey undercoat, heavy goldbrown yellow base all over, targeted the shadowy areas with burnt umber, then did a bit of spot highlighting with pure white on areas i thought would catch light, then finaly went over it again with Gold Yellow, keeping it thin in the shadows. Some stuff is a bit more brighter or shadowy than i'd have prefered, but i'm still getting the hang of controlling the airbrush at that detail level. All the paints were Vallejo game colours.

@BloodASmedium thanks for the tip, i'll try conecting some more of the smaller spots together then

Havent posted in a bit, despite painting quite a lot! Just finished my Primaris Deadnaught, love this model as theres so much you can do with the pose compared to the standard dreadnaughts. The pillar didnt quite come out as i expected it, mostly as the line between the two corks started to show again after i applied a wash!

I've also been looking at 360 photos for my models, as I saw the way Games Workshop show off their stuff on their site and wanted to replicate it. After a lot of faffing about with whiteboxes and camera settings i've come up with this:

https://embed.imajize.com/5309552?fullscreen_mode=true

It looks great, but unfortunately the site that provides the viewer is only on trial, and costs silly money a month to use. Would be great to find a free alternative somewhere.
