Scorpion Oriflame - Rackham 32mm (revised and based)

I finished the basing job. This is my second base overall and I must say I\'m pretty satisfied with the result. Also I did some improvements to the mini changing colors for the tunic and outlining/editing the freehand on the flag.
The base was very funny to do and I must say I really enjoy this \"basing stuff\"... next one I\'ll go for snow, so I learn all the techs and main scenes.
The foam of the waves is white+reflective so taking good shots with the rest of the scene is hard. That\'s why I took separate shots for the foam, without using the flashlight, so you can se how it\'s textured.

The game base is soketed and can easily be removed to play with the model.

I hope you like it!

The skintones are great! Looks good, the freehand on the banner lets him down a little though..

Apart from that it\'s a flawless mini :D

Thank you cleen X. Yep I don\'t like the banner work as well... probably today I would make it different... by the way I must say that on the real model (wich is the size in the lower right corner) it\'s looking quite good even if it\'s not \"stunning\" of course.

The blending on the blade, cloak, and the flag is excellent. Great work! My only gripe is the freehand on the flags have some rough edges but it is still a 10 from me. :) Did you use layering for the highlighting?

Yes I used layering for every transition (and for highlights) if for layering you mean glazing.. adding tons of water to the color and drawing multiple times until you see some changes lol

Thanks for all your comments. I agree with the freehand. I like skintones here and tunic as well... this also was my first attemp at NMM

Great work! As mentioned above, the NMM is top notch.

My main critique is with the photos, as there is a speckly outline around various regions (obviously due to the image manipulation afterwards). Taking the photo against a piece of paper with the blue/white fade on it can help prevent this as you dont need to perform the cutout step in photoshop.

Thank u Aidan. This could be a good idea.... btw I want to rebase this one and when done I\'ll have a pro photographer to take shots so maybe he can get enough contrast/resolution to crop the bg without hassle.
Anyway when we\'ll do, I\'ll make him take some shots as you suggested... just in case ;)

I managed to find a guy with works with plexiglass here and find a nice solution that may be useful to some of you.
That\'s what I use for basing now, a picture frame (wich has a 2mm external border) and a plexiglass cover above it.
This is great to put models anywhere avoiding dust (even without a proper case) and to transport them around with great ease.
