Scouter & Bristlebrush from Elfquest

Looking for constructive criticism on this submission, as I thought they would fare better on the scoring front. I know that they haven\'t hit the magical \"60 vote\" mark yet, but they have been up for about 5 days and have only gotten a little over 30 votes.

First off, the EQ minis are tiny, even for 25 mm scale. Despite that, the sculpts (by Julie Guthrie) are nicely done and true to the story characters. I did my best to do a \"clean paintjob\" despite the small size.

Also, although there are some blurred areas on the wolf in the more angled shots, I thought the photos were fairly clear as well.

Any other suggestions?

i agree that the rider\'s eyes aren\'t as good as the wolf\'s but it\'s really well done when you consider the size

I saw this when voting yesterday, and my immediate thought was that the pic was too fuzzy.

A 6 from me though, Although I do think a better photo would give you a better score.

I gave this one a 7. The colors are clean, more true to the comic and i know how tiny they really are. The pics are however \'fuzzy\' and that will effect some poeples scoreing.

Thanks everone - the feedback is greatly appreciated!

I agree that right eye looks a bit \"starey\" - probably should have built up the shading under it a bit more.

Fuzzy photos are the bane of my existence - I literally took about 3 or 4 shots of each angle, and picked the most crisp images. I even tried to sharpen a bit with GIMP. I am going to have to do some experiments with different distances from the lens to see if I can correct this problem.

I like your style quite a bit. Its a very clean and deceptively simple look. I like the fact you don\'t paint figures that everyone else paints.

As far as criticism goes....I think the wolf is very well done. But the teensy elf might look better with just a few more layers of highlight, especially on the green and red of his suit.

The base...or rather the black part of the base needs to be cleaned up a smidge.

Fuzzy pics are my problem too...There is only so much you can do with POST photo programs...I am convinced my fuzziness still comes from my camera. Although my camera is capable of doing it, I am not capable of telling it how to. I speak not one word of Nikon-ese.

One last thing....

how do you pronounce your user name?

Is it like

Tried and true?
or
\'I got that bear treed, and he aint coming down\'

or

\'Did the general sign the treaty?\'

(ok, I could go on all day with these)

Thanks for the additional comments, supervike. I will go for more aggressive highlighting on the rest of the EQ minis.

As far as how I pronounce my username, in my head it sounds like \"tray-dee\". It was a character name I made up for role playing many years ago, and I resurrected it for CMON.

The wolf is great, i like the way you have used darker and lighter greys to achieve a \'soft\' look to the fur.
The thing that needs improvement (others have said it aswell) is the left eye on the elf.
Other than that, pretty good.
Voted.

I always pronounced it try-eid

@matty1001 - I was also pleased with the wolf. I haven\'t painted many animals, and I look forward to doing more. The other wolves in the EQ series each have distinctive coloration and markings, so it should not get too monotonous.
