Cool thread gorb....love to see people being ingenuitive, creative and achieving interesting results.

Thanks mate! There's lots of problem solving involved, so I have to dig deep.

I plan to paint this guy (and two other clones) up soon, and I have another plan for the master model.
So much to do, so little time :)

Priming and gap/bubble filling

gorb's learning-to-cast lesson #314: bubbles. Aaaargghh.

I put together the little guy, then primed him. Turns out there are a lot more bubbles in him than I thought, although they are concentrated in the first parts that I cast.
So looking back I think I know why: I was rushing it when casting the first parts, since I knew I had limited time, which meant mixing the two-part resin frantically.
This creates a lot of little bubbles. Second I probably got the mixing ratio off. I only got a more precise scale last week.

Lessons learned: measure accurately and mix slowly.

Anyways, to fix him up I mixed some glue with paint, and tried to layer it on very thinly. The result is a bit blobby, but I'm not going to be too hard on myself this time.
To completely eliminate bubbles I'll have to get a pressure pot system, and that is way over my budget for now.

Next step will be to paint him up as a Bloody Magpie.

Considering you are doing this on a tight budget, Great job! I might be able to make a sphere, okay actually it would a misshapen blob as I lack the patience and talent to do this kind of work!

Thanks eki, much appreciated! All I can say is I have some patience, but not too much of it. Just enough to make up for the little talent :)
