Priming and gap/bubble filling
gorb's learning-to-cast lesson #314: bubbles. Aaaargghh.
I put together the little guy, then primed him. Turns out there are a lot more bubbles in him than I thought, although they are concentrated in the first parts that I cast.
So looking back I think I know why: I was rushing it when casting the first parts, since I knew I had limited time, which meant mixing the two-part resin frantically.
This creates a lot of little bubbles. Second I probably got the mixing ratio off. I only got a more precise scale last week.
Lessons learned: measure accurately and mix slowly.
Anyways, to fix him up I mixed some glue with paint, and tried to layer it on very thinly. The result is a bit blobby, but I'm not going to be too hard on myself this time.
To completely eliminate bubbles I'll have to get a pressure pot system, and that is way over my budget for now.
Next step will be to paint him up as a Bloody Magpie.
