I now have the third of the three 'preparation posts' published before the Sculpt along begins. You can read it here, it deals with getting your 'concept' for your project.

If you missed them, the first of the three posts is here, dealing with putties...

...and the second is here, dealing with tools and materials.

Now it's a case of relaxing, enjoying christmas and the new year and having a think about a concept. Fantastic! Those of you taking part, feel free to bounce any ideas off me (and each other obviously). Happy christmas!

I've also used mineral oil when working with GS, what I tend to do is get a sheet of paper towel, fold it in 4 then place it in a old blister pack. Then put the oil liberally onto the paper, then just dab whatever tool I'm using onto the paper

Another good hard putty is A+B from Sylmasta, it now comes in different colors as well

not quite used to the a+b. seems to get harder than magic sculpt and breaks down more with water but i think i prefer ms still

I was speaking to the Sylmasta guy at Euro and he was saying the new colored formula isn't as hard as the old stuff. I've still got a load of the old one and it sets like a rock!
Haven't tried the new stuff yet
edit: it's nice when mixed with GS btw, works well for clothing and robes

I'm still not sure what I'm gonna use yet, GS or Polymer. I was thinking last night, this would be the ideal time finish Orion, we'll see

Hi James, I just had a quick read through your blog posts & this is an intriguing idea. I'll see how I feel come January & may have a crack at it (head currently too scattered to want to commit to anything other than burying my head under the duvet 'till Spring! But these things always pass :) ). Cheers, B.

Hey!

You may have noticed that there is now a 'Sculpt along' forum as part of CMON for the duration of the event. Please feel free to address anything either to this thread, to me directly or in a thread in the forum.

Thanks guys, and thank you CMON for being such legends and setting this up for the Sculpt along participants.
