Sculpted Brushpot

Hello folks, haven\'t been doing much hobby stuff for a long while but here is something I knocked up the other day. It took 6 hours to sculpt the head and another couple to do the ears, ear ring and details and finishing off. Now I have a pretty cool looking pot for my brushes/sculpting tools! Hope you like - I will do a decent photo and post properly in my gallery soon(ish).

I like it!

Now, if you ever do another one, jut the jaw out and open a bit so that you could rest the brush while painting and have it look like it was clenched in its teeth.

Pegazus - I was gonna do that actually, but completely forgot about it - too busy shoving the sculpey on and trying to get proportions even - doh! I\'ll have to do that on the next one yes.

And yep, it will be painted but I haven\'t even baked it yet. Im going to try to get some good photos to go on my gallery first as well. I think i have seen some of them bottle monsters you are on about - they looked great.

He is rockin!!! Looks brilliant. Great sculpting. What sort of putty is that you have used and is it easy to use?

Hey AlexG - thans mate - the putty is called super sculpey, its a polymer clay which can be oven baked instead of kiln fired. Its basically a better version of Fimo which you can get in most art shops. It is good stuff but can be soft to start with, it usually stiffens up a bit though after 24hours its normally alot better to work with.

Hi dogfacedboy uk1,

Thanks for the info on the putty. Sounds like good stuff and you have got the technique nailed. I wouldn\'t know how to start! I struggle to sculpt a simple cape out of green stuff

Great work, i look forward to seeing more sculpts by you :)

Well don\'t let difficulty put you off. I look at stuff by the pro sculptors and feel pretty bad about how far I have to go!

Give it a try, look at lots of pictures and copy what you see to start off. Super sculpey would be ideal for you because it wont set until you bake it so you can endlessly change it or just practice on it without it hardening and wastng your putty.
