I found these by looking up \"chainmail\" and restricting it by \"Painting & Conversions\" (started coming up on page 2) :

Not an easy description but here goes:

Mold a flat piece of \'GreenStuff\' to fit the figure.

Take a Pin or Needle and make a line of dots with a lean to one side like so:
>>>>>>>>
The do a second line with the lean in the opposite direction, But offset the dots.
<<<<<<<<
Repeat as needed

You should end up with a Panel something a little like this:
>>>>>>>>
<<<<<<<<
>>>>>>>>
<<<<<<<<

You might take some FIMO and try what Mike said. Since FIMO doesn\'t set up, you can try different stuff. How about doing what Mike said but doing little comma\'s?

yeh man, instead of having to push the putty after making a slight hole you literaly just stick the implement in (and then repeat hundreds of times in alternating rows)

A lot of mail is commercially sculpted using a C-shaped tool, which is best made for a small scale using stainless tubing. The easiest source for this is usually hypodermic needles if you can get them.

Grind or file off part of the tip and you\'re left with the right profile which you use in alternate rows exactly like in Dragonsreach\'s post.

Been doing A LOT of R & D lately and will soon show some sculpted chain mail that looks like THE REAL DEAL and yes, it's to scale.....a WHOLE LOT OF R & D.

Filing the tip off a hypodermic needle works a treat. You have to alternate the direction by row and drag a little.

Like:

(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((
)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((
)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

If that makes sense.

I have seen people use custom tools that produce effective looking rings of mail. Not sure how to make one though. Same principle as a filed hypo though.
