Sculpting Dreadlocks

I\'m looking for tips and/or tutorials on sculpting dreads. I have a custom order to take care of but I\'m not sure where to start on this.

Thanks.

One way to do it would be to roll each dread seperately and texture them by lightly rolling them on a fine grade sand paper. Never done it. Never seen it done. Just the first thing I thought of. Hope that helps, or gets the ball rolling.

Make sure to look at pictures of people with real dreadlocks. As nice as that Avatar is, and as good as those \"dreads\" look, I don\'t think that they really look like dreads. I don\'t think I\'ve seen dreads like that, and I know mine never looked like that.

True, but I have no idea what he is looking for :p Realistic style? Look at pictures like:

I think this one is exactly what I was thinking of. The tubes of green stuff was obvious, of course, it was the texture idea I was lacking. Sandpaper. PERFECT!

Hopefully I remember to post about how it goes.

Spooky - I was going to sculpt some dreads on a figure of mine, but decided against it as I was using milliput for the first time (I think green stuff would be better suited)

Also - I agree with the Avatar - the dreads look cool - but they look more like the Predator dreads that Mr. Marley ;)

Maybe another way would be actually incorporate a little cotton wool or something into the green stuff...? (Although I don\'t know if this would affect consistency) ... :/

Please let me know (Message me) if and when you get this done as I would like to see the result :)

Regards,
DaN
