Sculpting muscular arms

You want help with the shapes? Or the actual musculature or what? :p

If you\'re just after some good examples of arms, just google some bodybuilders or Arnie or something :D

Most important thing is to not try to sculpt the entire arm, in its full thickness, all at once. Start from a skeleten armature and build up the bulk in layers. Get a good book on human anatomy and literally add each layer, muscle by muscle. Most sculptors recommend this even at the 28mm size, but I think it would be even more important at 54mm, where flaws would probably be more evident.

I do not know if my way is the proper way to sculpt muscle but it worked nicely.

First I wrapped in thin layer of GS around a metal armature (made out of paperclip). When it was dry I took small pieces of GS that I rolled into sausages and placed them on the armature where the muscles were. Each sausage represented a different muscle. 2 sausages for each part of the tricep (tricep long, and whatever the name is for the other part of it), and the same for the bicep and forearm. After they were placed I blended the pieces together and it came out well.

I have a picture in my gallery of a mini I sculpted that shows the paintjob and the sculpt work. The muscles came out pretty good for my first try.
