Sculpting project

Hey folks - going to do my bit today and found myself getting confused.

I know I\'m doing the torso, but is this just a bulking out excercise, or am I supposed to do some detail?

Can I add putty to other body parts to make sure I don\'t get the whole proportions wrong?

??????

guess none of these things had really occured to me earlier.......doh!

Hi,

yup, you\'re supposed to do the torso with the details on it. As to fleshing out, well, I\'d say that\'s a good idea but leave the others some space to add putty too. On the other hand, they can cut away what gets in the way.

Note, I measure the armature and I\'ve got the impression the arms end at the wrist, not in the hand as is more usual.

Hi Ming-Hua

That sounds like what I thought......

I will do some general fleshing out just to keep myself from over working the torso.

As you say, the others can cut off anything that intrudes on their areas.

Right.......

to the putty!!

Sorry on that one, at first I thought that the hands were going to be seperate.

Why not. Though I would not use green stuff for it but a material that is easy to sand.

What size is it?

By the way, if there are going to be many questions on this we may want to move to a new thread since several people will be waiting to messages on the sculpt project only.

main question is what material to use as for size.. see the fairly dark peice where the long large peice connects to the back? that will be big enough for a troops to fit in... prolly eldar so proly a slightly converted guardian

Considering shape and size I\'d probably go for wood or vacform plastic over wooden masters (saves on trying to get the wood smooth). Reproduction will be expensive considering the size. Can\'t say much about that.

@Wolf_Fang : Nothing against you, but I\'ll second Ming-Hua on that one. I keep getting emails on updates of this thread only to find out that it\'s not about the cyber-angel progression which is the subject of this thread in case you haven\'t followed from the beginning. But I will look forward to follow your project on your own thread ;).

Progress

Hi Guys! So that MM and GS get project related emails, here\'s an update from me.

Done a couple of sessions doing as little fleshing outside of the torso area as possible.

Progress slow but she is taking shape - I\'ll try to take a pic or two tonight because I think this is the stage I require feedback!

I\'d like to ship mine on to Waxfive by the end of next week. That\'s the plan!

Well, here she is! Don\'t laugh!

just got in from work, and snapped a couple of pics.
Please remember this is just getting enough to sculpt some torso details on:

CMONsculptproj.jpg

plan to shape her chest buy reducing the clavicle area, and maybe her bum won\'t be so big!

so comments here would be helpful!

And as said again.......she\'s tiny!!

Hi Orb,

now much to comment on as yet. just take care not to make the shoulders too high as you still need to add the coat.

By the way, I made a new thread to discuss Wolf_fang\'s ship.

Bye, Ming-Hua

update

sorry for the lack of activity on this.

She\'s fine - but I\'m finding it hard going! had to sculpt more of the body and limbs to facilitate the torso work. Size of the piece is limiting me - I need to improve my skills

My digi cam is playing up so no pics right now - need to borrow one or buy a new one (digital SLR for me!). Pics as soon as possible!

Who\'s this off to next? Waxfive?

I believe the order was :

1.green stuff - France - making/posing the armature and freezing the joints.
2.minimaker - Netherlands - weapons
3.Orb - UK - torso
4.waxfive - UK - head
5.t_haye2 - UK - wing back piece
6.Medved - UK - wings
7.Itchy - US - trousers
8.Xavier - US - fleshing out the visible muscles (left arm I presume )
9.Trevor - Australia - equipment (pouches, etc, ...)/mechanical right arm

So yes, waxfive is next ;).
