Hi El G ......long time away. Those UM guys got you locked away.

This is by far your best yet. I wasnt too keen on the concept of the \"snake\" bodied sculpts. This is much more to my tastes.

Have you tried brown stuff. I notice you have dry sculpted the greenstuff and brown is much easier to dry sculpt.

hi yeah ive been working hard, not a miniute to post im glad you like it lost of work wwent on this one.

and yes ive tried BS, in fact i have some too, dont know why i used gs, i supose it was the only one in sight at the moment :lol:

I have a question... how do you keep proportions between matching items? ie how do you make sure the two legs are the same diameter?

I guess on cloth items a little difference wouldn\'t notice but on hard ones it would.

I tend to do it by eye. Sometimes I will use templates cut from paper or card. Mostly though its just trial and error and Im sure with more experience it becomes easier.

A tip I have for things like muscles is to roll the putty out into a sausage and cut 2 pieces off to use on the left and right.

eg when you place the biceps on cut 2 lengths the same size and apply it to the left and right arm at the same time.
This means that both biceps will be the same size.

yeah as kulte here said, you have to do it by the eye, no super-tricks. i do it and when dried if i see there is some difference i just file/sand/dremell it until im satisfied.

nice tip... i work with two small sausages at time too... u can see very clearly differences

@green stuff what do you use to make chain mail. I use a small toothed saw but yours looks way better than mine.

Well. I managed to get one of the sculpts done before christmas (the other is still sitting less than half finished on my desk). Didnt manage to get any pics of it. The friend that I gave it to took this picture (she\'s going to try to get better pics later), its not that great at all (both picture and sculpt) but I felt like showing it anyways. It\'s actually fairly accurate sculpt of myself. First sculpt, first large scale painting (about 100mm), and first anime.

So, it\'s been way to long since a) I\'ve worked on this and b) I\'ve posted about it! Since the holidays, I\'ve been job-hunting - apparently landlords like to be paid every month.

However, I\'m back, and loving it more than ever. While my updates aren\'t drastic, they\'re updates nonetheless!

I\'m finding the lighting/SS tranlucency is somewhat blurring the details, but hopefully enough shows to get an idea of the progress. I drew some anatomical inspiration from Mark Newman\'s amazing Frankenstein (see here).

I learned the hard way that using Kneadatite underneath SS is a bad idea - the colour leaks through, leaving the exterior a muddy blah colour of greens and flesh-tones. Ah well, it all gets painted.

More updates tomorrow when I (hopefully) have the teeth done...he still looks like a grinning idiot.

I used a dentist tool for this bust, but for 28mm minis, I usually use a tool I made with a needle.

@wyrmlingx : looking very good. I hope you\'ve planned to make the horn part more gritty. It\'ll accentuate the evilness IMHO.

Most definitely! I sort of hop around from area to area, never finishing one at a time. A bad habit, I\'m certain. Expect notches, grooves, torn flesh where the horn erupts from the skull...\"the works\".

Cedric......looking good.The chainmail is as good as any commercial stuff Ive seen.

Wyrmlingx......when I was messing with sculpey I was using a pink like you have there and found it difficult to sculpt cos I couldnt see the detail well enough so I switched to a darker colour.
Looking cool btw.

@Mark : Thanks . There are some rough spots, but the next layer of armor should hopefully cover up my mistakes. I think it was you who suggested to make smaller zones by adding leather bands. That helped a lot to finish the rings before the GS cured.
