Heres an update of me sculpting me. I\'ve nearly done but i would of liked it alot smoother than it turned out. Oh well...on to the next fellow student in my class.

That looks smooth enough to me.
I dont know what tools you use but I get the smoothest surface using rubber shapers and vaseline on the greenstuff.

Heres the pirate \"First mate Rooney\" almost finished.

I shall have to try using them...thanks Klute. I\'ve just been using wax carving tools and water.

I mostly use a Wax5 and needle and the shapers.
For lubrication on a warm day I will use the oil from the skin on my nose or forehead. Sounds disgusting I know but its handy. If Im all dry I rub some vaseline on the back of my left hand. Just a tiny bit though as its worse to apply putty over smoothed areas like this. Spit is also often used.

Here is my gift for shilpa. began the sculpey work last night.

Now, problem I am having, how do I smoothen super sculpey? Turpenoid and a brush is what I read somewhere, but that may only be for fine smoothing, but for rough creases, etc? Finger with a glove on it or something else? I know once it\'s baked, I can sand out any last errors I find but still....

Any ideas?

Looking very good Sanjay . Fingers with gloves can be a solution. Otherwise a smooth and soft surface tool will help you get a more even finish. In some art stores you can find a \"rubber brush\" (translation?). Basically it\'s a brush with a shaped erasor on the end (it can be home made). Another solution, that I\'ve been using for some time now is taking an old brush and putting excess GS on on end and to give it the desired shape. That way I can make larger flattening tools than what I can find in my store. Since GS is rubbery, it\'ll help give a smooth surface.

@Greenstuff.....thats an excellent idea with the GS tool tips.

@Sanjay.....you dont do things by half do you.
You have a really sound base there for the dolphin.
When smoothing out large areas of bodyfiller at work I would use a long thin piece of plywood dragged over it.
Maybe the same idea with plasticard would work to smooth large areas of sculpey/ fimo.

@Klute : Well you know how you always have excess GS after a sculpt; that\'s one of the ways I\'ve found to still make it useful. I also make stamps and some become base rocks (got the idea from MB; cut up GS has great strat motifs if you fold it to mix it). Ansquer makes tree barks out of his.

Tree bark and stone eh.....I will remember that.
I sculpt little bags and pouches with left over GS and theres hundreds of little balls on cocktail sticks ready for head sculpts.

ok, i was being slow there. nice name!!! where do you get the rubber shapers from cause i cant find any?

I got them from Wards Graphics but you should get them plenty places online.
There are some that cost more, about £3 each but I found some softer ones aimed for kids that were cheaper.
