OgreBane - Thanks, it\'s off an awesome concept sketch Ari did for me, he\'s great at giving personality to a commision\'s discription.

Asteriks - Yes it\'s done. It has a few rolling folds in it, but is mostly flat for an easier spot to work freehand on.

I thought that was her in Narnia.
Something odd about her in a pleasing way. Like a lot of those \"supermodels\".

I am making a new sculpture out of Super Sculpey. It will be a bust of some charactor (male) in the lord of the rings.

I have not yet decided on the charactor but I have made the base I will be working over and it will be male. One of my ideas was boromir in gondorian armor. I wish to do something original and I have not yet seen a bust of him in armor though there are busts of him.

If you could have a bust of any male lotr charactor. What would it be of?

p.s. Pics to come!

Thats a tough one. Loads of characters would be fitting for the job but personally I would go for an earlier character from the Sillmarillion.
Turin Turamber.

A little step back...

I constructed the armature part for the head backwards. I redid the armature. Once baked I can get on to the actual sculpting.

I doubt it will look like anything for a bit. It takes a series of bulking stages. It\'s also xmas and such so I won\'t get around to sculpting tonight probably tomarrow. The great thing about Sculpey is that it doesn\'t rush you to finish; you can be on one step and if you don\'t finish it\'ll stay completely workable until you bake it.

If you haven\'t tried Sculpey PLEASE DO!
This stuff is brilliant! I\'m using Super Sculpey but I\'ll try Sculpey III next time.

If you are interested in sculpting busts and larger scale models please visit planetFigure and go to the sculpting forums. Look for any tutorials by garyjd. He is an excelant sculptor (I meen look at this!)I am taking my own approach to his techniques.

Happy Christmahanukwanzaeedasolstica!

The First pictures!

None of this will be showing. The basic bulking out steps have been completed. Soon I will start on the head and then the clothes,armor,ect...

The King of the Dead, arrr

Sculpting busts semms interesting, but I suppose I\'m not good enough for something like this... but perhaps I\'ll give it a try.

It\'s not grima as there is already a bust of grima.
I have yet to decide. I only know that next time, I\'ll do the WK in armor.

Would Faramir be cool?

Because I have more recources (pics) I think I will do the guy from the film. I\'m actualy desiding against Faramir because of this:
bustslineup1.jpg

Someone has already made a bust of him.
KotD? I don\'t know, this is suposed to be more of a human head study.

the nose is too big and the traits and lineaments are not well defined plus the eyes needs really a work...

the shirt ... i can\'t understand the pattern but i suggest u to avoid the carving

he was human. he\'s just dead. you can keep him normal and just paint him all ghostly. i\'m with tony on this, the nose is too broad and the eyes are too far apart

This is a \"little\" something I started this afternoon :

OrcWarlordWIP1Back.jpg

It\'s just the fleshing out phase and the arms still need some work on them, but this is more or less what I\'m aiming for :

Here are some rather poorly shot, lit and grainy photos of a green I am working on, I found him in my WIP box and ripped lots of stuff off him and then added many new details and scraped all the old poor(er) sculpting smooth so he looks a little shonky in the photo though I shall aim to get some better ones for you all soon.

P.S. Kudos to Spacemunkie for his article showing me how to pout gradients in the background.

P.P.S any news on the casting spacemunkie?
