sculptinjg abs or six packs

That was an obvious joke.

Anyways, to sculpt abs, take a dental tool with a slightly rounded edge and basically carve away at it until they look like abs.

Probably not how I\'d do it now, but when I was starting out sculpting the easiest method I found, whilst making some Possessed Chaos Marines (Which looked better than the GW ones despite me having rather less experience than Garey Morley ;) ) was to to take 6 little blobs of Green stuff and stack them in the right sort of place, then carefully smooth them together. Finally I\'d build up the rest of the torso around them.

I would do it the way lono described. Using small blobs get them in place and smooth them out. You could use a tool like the one ainu described in the smoothing out. Personally I generally go with additive sculpting methods (building up from small, think of most pottery) over subtractive (taking away from large, think carving).

I\'m still learning how to sculpt but I would sculpt the six-pack as one piece. Flatten out a thin sheet of green stuff and cut out a rectangular piece from the sheet. This piece should be the right size to cover the area. Place this resized piece onto your sculpt and and smooth it over a little to help it bond with the cured greenstuff underneath. Once this is done use your craft knife to gently indent (not cut) a vertical center line. then do the same for the horizontal lines. Now you should have a blocky looking six pack. All you need to do now is smooth out the muscles around the edges to make them look more natural.
One thing to remember though is that what you might think something looks like is never what it actually does look like. Studying the human form is a MUST for any sculptor imo
He\'s an example on how it turns out using this method.

After some thought, I think I probably would have gone with darkarts method for abs... larger more seperate muscles I probably would do one by one.

I think it is one of those ones that comes down to personal preference. For me the flat sheet method takes much more work to make the scoring in it look more like natural muscle tone and less like lines in Green Stuff, wheras the blobs instantly adds height and depth to the area.

Perhaps it is because all of my recent sculpting has been at a larger scale (54mm+), so it is easier to work that technique.

Just find what is best for you and go with it!
