Sculpy on metal

Has anyone tried to use sculpy on a metal mini and then baked it? If so what was the outcome; did the mini survive?

Hey there,

I have successfully used sculpey on white metal figures before and I have had no fuss with it. Only thing I would reccomend to do if wanting to use it on resin is the put a bit of aluminum foil on the spots that doesn\'t have sculpey on it so the resin doesn\'t change to a err... darker more brown colour and then weaken.

you shouldn\'t have any melting problems but you may find the sculpey doesn\'t stick. if so, try a thin smear of gs to stick it to the metal

One thing about Sculpey and the like is that it\'s much weaker than the epoxy putty\'s and you could end up with a nice sculpt that breaks easily.

Are you using Sculpey because it\'s all you have? There\'s an issue with this in that Sculpey and similar don\'t bond to metal that well, partly because they shrink when they cure. It\'s not uncommon for baked putty to crack off a surface.

You\'d be much better off doing this with a two-party putty if you can.
