This is the first tank i have done since i was about 10 so about 6 years. Hints and tips are greatly apreciated! The kit is from Italeri and cost 19.90E.

I used two gw spraycans. Sprayed it black then got a bit of a4 paper to mask the camo pattern. I just held it in frount of the mini and sprayed. After that jsut glazes and washes of devlan mud mixed with catachan green.
Like i said the other day, I\'m cheap!

So cover lower areas with fabrics?

zimmerit was aplied in a plaster form in the factory mate, it wasn\'t done 1944 onwards as the allieds weren\'t using magnetic mines, thus money, time and weight could be saved by not applying.it\'s needs weathering mate, water stains, chips, dust mud etc.
these two dvd\'s will give you so much advice for armour modelling mate.

Ive got some mig powders and pens etc so will do some weathering once ive finished the metals and wood.
Ive done some rain streaks but they dont show up to well. I will take it to GD for some tips etc..

I\'d say keep going like you are, then as mentioned, apply the weathering and mud etc.
I\'m not too sure on actual armoured tactics, but I would ASSUME that as the \"Jagd\" tanks were primarily designed as mobile artillery and tank destroyers, that they would spend most of their time in position, hull-down, and so therefore, might not be as dirtied from mud spay and dust, but possibly more rust and general streaking ... ?
Can\'t say if that\'s accurate or not though - just a theory.

towards the later stages of the war german armour was used for ambushes.
the camo on this is not the german ambush camo, it looks more like what could have been used on the eastern front.
as such it would be covered in all sorts of crap.
especialy if it was part of the relief force sent from the eastern front to help bolster the western front.
good news for the russians, but bad news for the forces in holland (as these troops played a part in messing up operation market garden as their presence wasn\'t expected and added extra weight to the germans resistance and withdrawel from holland.)
research is dead easy mate for this sort of thing, and their are loads of books on german armour for referance material.
grab me at gd if you spot me and i\'ll explain quick and effective weathering for armour (bring a note pad so you don\'t forget)

That will be great, i will be at the cmon meetup with james (tehcadian) probs so i will try find you (i will prbs still have blue/black hair).
I have a book on the history of tanks but its kinda crap cos it was very cheap, but it has a few good pics so i will take a look at those. The main problem is most pics are in black and white due to their age.
Could you give me a few pointers on applying weathering powder, i know how to mix it, just not what is the best method of application.

their are a few differnt techniques, one is the wash for when you want it to primarily get into the recessed areas.
the other is stippling (dry powder for this)
once dry any excess can be removed by an old flat brush, by using a dry brush action.
for mud, use some air drying clear resin mixed into some plaster of paris and pigments.
this kills brushes so only use cheap brushes.

How do you get the dry powder to stay on the tank without rubbing off which is the main problem i have had previously?

apply lighter fluid to it, then let dry.

Oky doke, i tried the stippleing technique over the wash today because the wash looked a bit crap, it looks better now. Should i do a wet mud effect on top of the rust?
