Well i still think such threads are pure self-endorsement, but what the hell - I´ve got an ego too. The first pis shows me while playing some poker with friends (we don´t gamble for money though, poor students we are..) and the second is a trophy MiG in the isreal air force museum in Beer-Sheba.

Grumb, I\'d like to visit Egypt but I hear it\'s really dirty.
I\'ve been to Turkey, Iraq and some other seedy parts of the world, so I can\'t imagine it being MORE dirty.
Can you confirm or deny?

Also, here\'s me in Korea during an \"exercise\"...

If you want to know why I chose that particular pose, head over to Waryammer.com and check out my avitar.

When I was in Egypt a few years ago, I thought it was generally clean... of course there was the odd dodgy bit but I guess that\'s true for everywhere.

I may be going back some time soon because there are some things I didn\'t get time to see/experience.

Egypt is pretty dirty. Even the things that never left my suitcase got dirty. The pollution i Cairo is horrific!

Anyway, taking a taxi in Cairo is a real adventure. If you manage to survive, you\'ll get a lot of fun!lol

From my experience and understanding its a cultural thing - garbage=civilization to some point in some places in the Middle East - not that I\'ve been to all places in the Middle East, but in the places I\'ve been, thats a true statement.

Me, trying my new shades. Free with a copy of the Sun newspaper today and in a \'Hot Fuzz\' branded case. Bought the paper, traded in the voucher, left the shop and binned the paper. Shades cost 35p and are actually half decent.

Rex;

It depends on where you go in Egypt. Alexandria was quite clean and very nice.

Cairo was very dirty and pollution was really bad. And Pixiecat is correct, you haven\'t experienced traffic until you\'ve driven or taken a taxi in Cairo. One of the locals described it as a \"live action Playstation game\". Another referred to it as \"freestyle driving.\" I also experienced a sand storm while I was in Cairo, which coats EVERYTHING in sand and dust....

Maadi was somewhere between Cairo and Alexandria.
Seems to be like any other country, the US for example. Most of the country is very clean, but you have pockets of heavily populated areas that are very dirty.

Hope that helps.

@SJB - nice shades Steve. And to answer your question, if you are like me, your hair is migrating south to other areas where you didn\'t used to have hair growing.... :lol

Cheers,
Grumb :cool

@Grumb - From what I understand about Cairo driving, I would rather drive through Baghdad - its a safer proposition.lol

But probably not so much fun!lol

By the way, a quote from our guide:

\"93 % of the Egyptian drivers are so good at it they can do whatever they want with the car\"

--and it shows! It says abit about the attitude down therelol
