squidders, drill out the base on the mini (if it has a plinth) insert a thread widget thingy and then use a bolt/flat head screw thingy to attach through a pre drilled hole in the shelf.

I hollow out the underside of all my bases and fill them with flat disc shaped magnets. My base board obviously also has them adhered at regular intervals. One shelf has a section that has two magnets stuck close together for extra staying power for larger things like vehicles etc that can take extra magnets on their bases.
No need to set the magnets on the base boards in as I find that the slight gap under the mini\'s base allows me to detatch it easily without scratching or marring the base in any way.
Have used this method of transport many times and never had a mishap so the strength needed is there in the Rare Earth magnets.

me too but a lot of Joe\'s pieces are on normal sized bases .. tapping a threaded hole for a screw attatchment wouldn\'t work on them..
White tac is cool.
alternatvely get some hin metal sheet line the shelves with it and use rare earth magnets... They really work a treat ....

A local person who I made 2 boxes for to carry his 1/1200 naval fleet in did this. He had sheets of metal cut to put on his shelves and then glued magnetic sheet to the bottom of his based ships. Keeps them tightly in place.

Hi guys,
Just to keep the box discussion alive, I just put some pics of my transport up in the \"tips\" section of my website. It\'s a little different design than most since it opens up the center and has removable trays that spin around for display purposes.

@crookedeye: Nice idea! one thing I did notice about your design is that it looks like it only fits 25mm GW bases, maybe for your next design, try and have the box fit a greater variety of base sizes and styles or you could make different sized trays to put into the box.

You can actually cut any size you want to in there. There are 2 larger bases in there I think, a 40 mm round for the orc and I think there\'s one more blank. When the tray is done it\'s a blank slate and you can cut any size you want to, as long as you have the right bit.
Most of my figs are on the smaller bases, plus the 25mm round just fits the \'cup\' magnet I use for figures on integrated wood plinths.
