Self Promotion?

I can't help but notice a certain user seems to be boosting his own scores like crazy. I usually drop by the top 7 category daily just to inspire myself and enjoy other people's work but lately I've been seeing a certain submission that's being sold on ebay that is like 8.9 and quite frankly shouldn't be in my opinion, it takes over other people's work. Why do i think it's self boosted? Well I couldn't help but track the rating for this yesterday he went from 8.9 to 7.5 and then this morning he's back to 8.9. I know that i shouldn't really bother about it but it just dosen't seem fair for other people's work especially the amazing stuff I've seen submitted for the last few weeks. So user who i shall not point out please stop self boosting your stuff for sale.

did you also check the number of votes?
quite often minis get a lot of unjustified 1-s bringing the score down. CMON deletes these about daily (at least it seems to me from my experience) that brings the score back up.

Also CMON scores were never about the quality of work, but about how many friends you have who can give you high ones. (also helping getting the number of votes up to the level, where the pic is counted in the ranking).

Best thing to do: ignore the whole thing (scoring, ranking, etc.) Both when friends give 10-s all the way and snipers giving out 1-s to everyone.

and there is also no real alternative.

Putty and Paint is in general the same. You have lots of friends / followers, you'll have good medals.

FB groups / painting or wargaming forums / instagram is too divided between many small groups, so no comparison. Also some/most are pretty tight groups of friends/followers where you can paint no wrong, so also not objective.

yeah that's why i mostly post my work on a thread in the forums instead, it's more constructive for me. There's a guy i follow on facebook called dead fish painting his work is friggin amazing but he quit the cool mini or not website due to exactly that rigged ratings instead of community participation.
