SENMM Horizon Line Question

Hey all! I am about to start playing with SENMM and I want to make sure I understand horizon line placement correctly. The model\'s sword is pointing in a downward incline. Are the highlights and horizon line in the drawing correct? I apologize for the poor MS Paint drawing.

If the sword is perfectly flat then yes though it does look to be tilting forward which would move the horizon up.
My guess though is the sword isnt totally flat and then the senmm does nice funky stuff.

It\'s not completely flat, but it has no sharp edges running down the center. So the horizon line should be higher up then?

For it to be technically correct you need to look at each surface by itself and judge whether it will show sky or earth and to what degree.
You will generally see the reflection running UP a sword and not across though unless the blade is perfectly flat.

just a thought .....

Could one take a laser level (or a pointer with a line shaped tip) to see where and how a horizon line would fall?

I think its wise to know what it should look like \"technically correct\" and use that to influence how it is painted to look right as a painted miniature.
ie the figure will look better if it is painted how we think it should look as opposed to how it should look if real.

Basic rule is that if a face is perpendicular to the horizon it will reflect half sky half earth.
If it is facing downward by more than 5 degrees it will reflect only earth. 5 degrees up only sky.
0 to 5 degrees and the horizon level on the face alters up or down to suit.
