Sethin revisited

I was unhappy with my paint job on Rackham\'s Sethin mini, so I decided to repaint her and make a better looking base for her. It\'s one of my all time favourite minis, so I really wanted to be happy with how I painted her. Please, let me know what you think.

I had the impression that the other one was\'nt going to be very good, but its pretty damn good aswell. I dont think I would have had the guts to paint over it, im guessing that its a limited edition though. The base on the second version is much better and the minature does stand out more but great work on both paint jobs:D.

Yes, it did take some consideration... A friend of mine thought I was mad when I mentioned my plan. lol But, I wasn\'t pleased with the first paint job and if I had screwed it up when repainting it... well, back to the strip jar she would\'ve gone! Sooner or later I would have something I was pleased with. I always have the pics of the old one left. It\'s kind of like if you sell things on eBay, really. You don\'t have the mini, but you got pics of it.

Wow!!!

Brother Tom is right! :wow: It took big cajones to repaint that one! But you managed to pull it off and actually improve on what I thoguht was a damn close to perfect paint job the first time. Looks beautiful :cool:

Thanks guys! :)

@dauber
I wasn\'t really unhappy with the technical aspect of my previous paint job. I just thought it looked boring and I hated the base. Also, I\'ve learned much since I painted that so I was confident I would be able to improve the overall result.

Top 100 here you go!!

VERY VERY Good, there is nothing I can fault you on that. You can pat yourself on the back and say that\'s from me :D

Keep it up! Looking forward to more...

Very nice. Didn\'t think there was anything wrong with your original post but after seeing the re-work I have to definitly give you a thumbs up. Good stuff.

Now if I can only figure out where to get that miniature myself.

eBay! ;)
You apparently missed to get it while Rackham made it available for mailorder a couple of weeks earlier in December. Now it\'s gone again! It\'s not completely impossible they will sell it again, but then again they might not.

Thanks everyone for your comments! They are much appreciated! :D

I did it once, I could do it again :D The miniature isn\'t exactly rare in Germany. I should be able to get one for you with no real problems. Drop me a mail if you want to (gefaelschte_Rolex@gmx.de).

Thanks, but I better curb my spending until I get some of these miniatures around here painted and out the door. The wife is starting to look at the suspiciously large \'pile\' of \'stuff\' that I have hidden in these drawers and wondering just where I\'m getting them all as she KNOWS I\'m not going to the hobby store.

Silly woman doesn\'t check the mail thankfully ...

wow...
I really like the new version better then the old one...mostly because of the freehand. Speaking of which- how exactly did you do that?

By the way, I think the best thing you can do with the base right now, is add a bit of fog...just in order to complete the overall tone of the piece.

10€ plus shipping :D
Well, I have a large unpainted pile myself - think I could borrow your wife, only for the miniature-related things, you know? Can you ask her to mail me \"Stop that\" when I\'m about to go out to get a new mini? ;)

I left the following comment:

\"The armor is great, and I don\'t know that I have ever seen better blending than you achieved on her cloak. Beautiful!\"

Your work is truly inspirational. Keep them coming for us less experienced painters to learn from.

John
