Severite Lieutenant, finished

This is the Lieutenant for my IG comm squad, I really poured a lot of effort into him, and made him my first attempt to legitimize my skill. Lots of blending and even a virginal attempt at NMM on the bolt pistol and power sword. Enjoy!

He\'s got a severite I had painted previously so folks could compare and contrast my current work with my past.

to be brutally honest, there appears to be little or no shading. try a couple of washes, this should help make hte colours pop a little more. also, please paint the base!

fair play to you for making the effort with the nmm though

I call for thinner paint. You\'ve got the idea for NMM fine--the highlights are in the right spots and everything-- but a smoother transition would be more convincing. Same thing goes for armor highlights; it\'s a touch chalky. I\'m relatively new to the serious painting scene, and I have yet to find the point where \"thinner is NOT better!\"

Thanks guys! I really was rather puzzled with the somewhat lacklustre shading, I will take your direction to go further on the color wheel to really make them pop. As for thinning, friggin\' hell! I had these pigments at a 3:1 ratio with h2o! The pigments on the bolt pistol final highlight was rather problematic, the white didn\'t want to blend, just plop there and collect around the edge of the paint stroke. I am proud of my progress so far, but I will take such considerate criticism into my next preformance! CMON delivers!

BTW, what the hell is that grayish/white film I have been getting in my black acrylic paint when I water it down? Is it a sign I am watering too much(binders?), or do al brands of paint have their unique quirks like that?
