my cmon contest 16 mini, struggling to get it done in time. i fairly happy with what ive done so far though i feel much of it has been more rushed than i would like. the free-hand on the shield was incredibly annoying, i was using reaper master series fiery orange triad and it seemed to have a lot of dried bits in it. big dissapointment as there 3 weeks old. made paint flow absolutely miserable. plz tell me what you think, critisicm is greatly appreciated. wont improve without it

I must say it looks great so far! I\'d love to paint a mini of this quality.

Luckily for me, the Reaper HQ is 45 minutes from my house! :D:)

Love the freehand. It\'s looking great so far. I\'m curious what color do you plan on painting the armor and helm?

Hope you finish in time. I\'m trying to finish my entry as well :D

this particular model was done with 1:1:1 blood red, chaos black, dark angels green (GW paints) then progresively adding blood red to pure blood red, my paint is about 1:1:3 paint/flow medium/water. for lighter tones like skin etc i bump it up to 6-10 parts water with 2 parts medium, depending on paint im using. 5 or 6 coats of blood red are applied with 5 parts water at the end to get stronger color and final highlights of reddy orange are applied. i use the middle orange from the reaper master series fire triad.

dbl post in my own thread :S so sorry. i was hoping for an opinion of what color to paiunt his big cloak, originally i was gonna paint it a darker tone of red, but now im thinking dark green might look good. i dont want him to be to busy..which is why ive been thinking red. the rest of his armor will be gold like his boot, though with more contrast over those broad surfaces. the base will be done with water effets and rieds and floating moss, like hes risen up from the depths of a great swampy lake....or thats the plan.

well hes finished now though im not happy with the NMM gold armor, base, and his arms. i painted till 6am last night to get him done for the painting competition. id appreciate criticism. i dont think the lighting on parts of the NMM gold work, was to bleary eyed to focus. the base also seems incomplete to me. may add some reeds or something. On a lighter note im really happy with the lower half of his body and his shield, the wood grain, free-hand swirls, and gold border are all painted on. its a flat shield. i was trying to make it look like part of the shield covering had ripped off and the wood was showing through. anyway, i ran outa time so im gonna call it done and maybe come back to it in a couple weeks and do more work on the gold armor/arms/base. the link isn\'t up yet but you can go here to vote when it is. http://www.coolminiornot.com/230248
please vote :D

I really like the colors you used and the gold nmm looks great in my opinion. Gems and shield turned out great.
