Shakey hands advice

Ironically I just tried to order, but there is a glitch on their site. They require you to add your State, but they have no field to enter it, but you can't place your order without entering it. I've sent them an email about it. It was more funny than frustrating. I can't wait to see what the reply will be. I'll keep you posted...

Seriously people, make yourself a hand clamp - superior ergonomics, and you can't beat the price!

The standard 'secret' for steadying the tip of the brush is for the brush hand (or that wrist/upper forearm) to be couched against something, either the opposing hand itself or a rest of some kind, e.g. a mahl stick in painting or a bridge in drawing. You could coble together an equivalent of either of those at home, possibly from stuff you already have lying around but they're not directly applicable to a lot of miniature painting and most people also need some means to hold the mini securely anyway, so one of the ideal solutions is to buy in or make yourself a holder or set of holders with a fat handle. Costs for the homemade type should be very low and can be free at the cheapest - like I said, can't beat the price. And they can be built to suit your own needs or preferences.

Depending on your chair/table setup at home you can tailor the handle so that the bottom of it rests on the desk during painting, or alternatively you can make it as short as necessary for a good grip (to keep weight to an absolute minimum) and rely on resting the elbow of that hand against the desk or your chair's armrest.

I usually just blue tac the mini to the top of an old paint pot, but I want to try out the large size of mini holder for the some of the 54mm minis that come in metal and are more difficult to hold and secure to something. Having a block of wood or a piece of thick dowel is good too. I still want to try that mini holder though, I like gadgety things :sidefrown:

Update: i just got the mini holders in the mail. Good customer service from PK-Pro. I got a 32 mm holder and a 54 mm holder. Very high quality merchandise. Well worth the money they are asking. It will take some getting used to vs the blu tac and paint pot approach I currently use but so far I like feel of them. Definitely more natural to handle them than the paint pots.
