Shimmering water!!

I need help with the efects of shimmering water on caves etc. and how to paint the water in a shimmery way.

I\'d paint the water the colour you want to and then use a scenic water product to make it shimmer. If you want to sculpt some texture, like waves, I suggest using Woodland Scenics \"Water Effect\".. It\'s easy to use, and produce nice results.

You can also use PVA glue that dries clear.. and cover it with gloss varnish.

Smooth blends.

One thing I have done that really makes water look deep is to put something floating in the water and paint a detached shadow. If you use that trick though it has to be photographed from the correct angle.

a lot of french artists use inclusion resin to do their water effects. and the result is usually amazing ( check out the prestige gold winner at GDFR 2005). Not sure if you could get a shmiering effect with that but might be worth a try.

for the reflection effect on the cave walls get referance. you are going to need to paint it on.
other then that im not much help.
