Shop reviews

I think that\'s what we need, a thread for shop reviews. Yes, I admit it, I am posting that one because currently I am pissed off ;)

Beutelsend - http://www.beutelsend.de
Beutelsend is the German distributor for Rackham minis. From my personal experience, they are a great bunch to deal with. I ordered one day and got the minis one day later - that speed has only been surpassed by Play Better, a video game shop (ordered at 1 AM and I have no idea how they did it but I got my order the very same afternoon by a private courier).
While they sent very quickly, it was somewhat of a pain to get a missing part (Deacon Tiberius was missing his head for a month), but in the end they sorted it out and sent me an emissasy of Acheron card as a gift. Nice, customers like free stuff :p
All in All, I can recommend Beutelsend.

ESLO - http://www.gelaendestuecke.de
I want to say something nice, and that would be that they answered my questions fast and that they were very friendly.
But we all kow there will be a \"however\" following....
HOWEVER, my order went really bad. ESLO grants 10% off of all orders that amount to more than 100€. I ordered for 127,95€. First it did not show up on the bill - it still was 127,95. After writing them about my problem they assured me that the final bill will be 10% lower. I thought nothing more of it and waited for my miniatures, which took their time to come... after two weeks I mailed them again asking about my order. I was told that they were waiting for some Fenryll miniatures - I understand that, but still, they could have told me voluntarily instead of waiting for a mail ;) I was told that the order would be sent this monday and the Fenryll miniatures later, free of P&P of course. I thought that was OK. So I kept on waiting and today the courier rang. He wanted 129,95€ for my parcel.... with a control sheet that said 126,95€. I was not prepared to pay either one so I didn\'t accept the parcel and wrote to ESLO. They answered in less than ten minutes (I told you they were fast) and informed me that they have really made a mistake and the bill was wrong. \"We are only human too, we make mistakes as well\" - well yes you do ;) That\'s exactly the reason why I didn\'t take the parcel for 129,95€.
In conclusion: I can\'t really recommend them. Sure, they\'re nice people, but that doesn\'t exactly help me with my order.

My current favorite online shop is:

http://fozzbozz.com/

They are carrying many lines that were previously very hard to get here in the USA. Great service too - I have placed several orders and gotten them within several days, and they always email to check and make sure I got the order and to thank me for my business. Not completely necessary, but that makes it that much nicer.

Before the creation of a local shop, I used to ordering from www.starplayer.fr as I was customer of their shop when I was a student in Paris. I never encountered any trouble.

I used GameMart when I first discovered Rackham, and a superb service.

However, Wargamesworkshop.com is located but a few miles from my house, so I can order and skip the postage and go collect and browse.......which is nice :flip:

That simply isn\'t a true account of the order that you made from us.

As I explained when I phoned...When you made the order, the last order step was missed meaning we received no confirmation and it never registered on the order database. As soon as this was discovered late last week, I sorted it out straight away. Also, I haven\'t taken any payment from your account... Paypal does it automatically. Had you asked me to refund you, I would have happily done so.

The fact that it\'s out of stock is just typical but I never said it would be two weeks until it arrived!!

I don\'t mind being taken to task if we\'re in the wrong but I\'m not going to have our reputation shredded when the mistake isn\'t ours, especially on a public forum.

Hmm, this is why these discussions never seem to go well

Anyway...

Ground Zero Games

GROUND ZERO GAMES
PO BOX 337
NEEDHAM MARKET
SUFFOLK
IP6 8LN

Distributors of Full Thrust, Dirtside and Eureka lines (minis and gamebooks), as well as numerous assorted and unusual minis. They also sell a number of resin sci-fi vehicles and small scenery.

The good: Their miniature catalogue offers a staggering array of human sci-fi troopers, aliens, contemporary or near-future characters, anime-styled minis, and random stuff, most available as singles for 1-2 GBP each, or in small group packs for 3-4 GBP. Little to no rammage as far as I can tell. They also sell a number of interesting (unlicensed) minis which are quite similar to characters from \"Buffy\", \"Stargate\", \"Xena\" and other popular media. They have a \"modular SWAT team\" where you can specify different heads, torsos and legs for each figure.

Orders from outside Great Britain will pay almost exactly the listed price, as the prices include VAT and the reduction for non-Brits ~ covers the shipping! I have ordered from them twice and have found shipping to be prompt, with no errors and the minis arriving undamaged.

The bad: Some of the sculpts are... dodgy. The quality is quite variable, and the pictures in their catalogue (pdf file) are not usually good enough to tell which are which before ordering. The minis tend towards \"true 25mm\" scale, so they\'ll seem quite diminutive next to a lot of larger modern 28mm lines.

Overall, I\'m generally impressed by GZG. I\'ve got a number of truly unique minis from them. If you play near-future or modern games there are a lot of SWAT, cops, gangers and that kind of stuff for cheap, and they have literally DOZENS of styles of sci-fi soldiers to choose from. Some of the minis are pretty crappy, so I would recommend a preliminary order of some \"samples\" before you go buying dozens of troops from them. But at about $2 US each you can afford a few regrettable choices.

Andy, sincere apologies, thats just what I heard from my other half, he said to me that it wouldn\'t be here for another two weeks so thats what I thought you said and as far as I knew he said the payment came out the same day he made the order. We don\'t want a refund, just the wolfen and if they were out of stock, just a note or email to say so and an eta on delivery. Thats all. ;)

Like I said I have had great service from Game Mart in the past (three great orders that went really smoothly) and this is the only problem we have ever had! I regularly recommend Game Mart to friends and will continue to do so. I\'m sure this was just a one off computer glitch or something. I\'ll keep using your company anyway despite this incident and I\'m sure my other half will too. I would also like to add that I\'ve not heard of anyone else having problems from Game Mart either, so I\'m sure its just a one off. So any idea how soon I\'ll get my wolfen? ???

Kind regards

Kat

Gamemart have always been superb IMO...

I can\'t imagine why you chose to slag them off on a public forum for a glitch as slight as this...

This is someone\'s livelihood we are talking here.....:duh:

*EDIT* Before responding on this thread..everyone should be sure they have sufficient legal cover for any cases of libel that might be bought. It\'s not just GW that employ lawyers....:innocent:

Wasn\'t there an incident over at the FUUK forums like that? Not naming names to avoid problems of course...

I was just trying to provide an objective review, both the good and the bad (as thats what this thread was about). Thats all. I am really really sorry that it has upset anyone, that wasn\'t my intention and I have said many times on this forum before how pleased I have been with Game Mart.. :( Going to go hide under a rock now....

ETA I have deleted my original post.
