I bought a PS2 for my daughter for Christmas. I thought about a PSP, but she really wanted the PS2. It certainly seems like everyone is getting some kind of game system.

Don\'t forget the DS, I think they are currently outselling the 360, Wii and PS3. PS2 are supposed to be the top seller if I\'m not mistaken. In the end the most expensive of the bunch is being left behind, admittedly probably due to manufacturing shortages more than anything (bugs/Sony\'s viral marketting scandal) but overall I think Nintendo gets the win for the holiday season.

In summary: Everyone seems to be getting something for Christmas that\'s for sure. I bought myself a DS earlier this month, and would\'ve had a Wii but I entered the store with someone else, so they said only one of us could get one :p

i think this is all just part of the kids xmas revolution of \"for christmas i AM having and xbox/360/wii (or whatver)\" xmas list, rather than getting what their parent can afford:D

and by the way; yeah it\'s like that here too.

I thought this may be worth sharing as it fit the discussion.

This site is tracking sales of all of the major consoles to see which is actually winning the next gen. console war:

Thus far the 360 is blowing everything else away.

The oddest thing I found this year was Boxing day. It was blatantly obvious that technology and not toys was the big thing this year. Out on Boxing day and Future Shop had a line up to get in, at 3:00! Best buy you had to park in the lot next door (grocery store) to get in. There were 2 hour lines to check out. Toys R Us, I got a spot right in front, there were maybe 20 people in the store, and 18 were in the Video game section.

It was crazy. Even Wal-Mart and Zellers, the stores were packed and the electronics sections were stuff to the brim with people.

It\'s like everyone gave/got some form of video game.

Myself I got one game, and would have appreciated a Wii, but don\'t need anything new.

See, that sucks all the fun out of Christmas shopping. I try to stay out of the uber busy stores. We live in a small town, and this year I managed to get almost all my shopping done with local merchants, rather than going to any chain stores. It was a little more expensive, but it was so worth it to be able to get my shopping done and not go home stressed out, sore, and tired.
