@solaria- that was a really nice story about your baby being protected like that- very cool.
I think often tatoos are very personal and often spiritual. They can reflect alot about a person.
As far as chicks having small hidden tatoos- that\'s usually because its a subconscious thing to cover up something that you really want revealed- err, kinda sexy in other words
As far as having tats at work- IMO no big whoopy as long as there isn\'t like a snake on a guy\'s face or some viens tatooed on a bald guy\'s neck or equally disturbing pics- it is a bit hard to take folks like the seriouslylol in serious situations.
As far as regrets, my cousin Jeff is a surgeon now. He got a big tatoo of a gekko on the back/side of his neck and doesn\'t like the unwanted attention it gets him all the time when he is wearing scrubs especially. Got when he was drinking lots in Mexico I think- that\'ll learn himlol He actually gets pissed when the nurses want to touch it- well duh, you were the butthead that put it there, you have to be accoutable for your actions sometime. And, lazer removal would be friggin painful where it is at. Just be ready for what you ask for.
There was a hillarious tatoo removal commercial on SNL last year. It had to do with soccer moms and such- very funny, and reminded me of Jeff.
@ Margo- I think a tatoo would suit you nicely. But, with your supermodel skin complection why mess with such a beautiful, naturally granted, uniqueness ( not being fresh- we are both married, just stating the wonderfully obvious)

Personally I\'ve wanted tattoos since I was fourteen, but lets face it, I\'m rather happy I never got that skull with the green sludge dripping out of its sockets on my forearm, that would of just put me into a stereotype that I neither want nor need.

Yup, stereo type. Sadly, like it or not, a lot of places that were rather low grade jobs you always saw the fellow with tats from head to foot, or the guy that was trying to hide the barbwired tats on his arms and wrists in a long sleeve shirt while its 104 degree\'s outside and looking distinctly uncomfortable.

I would love to have one on my forearm, but its never going to happen, because when it really comes down to it, it affects more than just me these days, it affects my family as I make the \'bacon\' so to speak and if it affects how I go about getting/keeping a job or future possibilities then I have to keep that in mind. Of course if I had $$$ out the whaazoo and my own buisness, I likely wouldn\'t care.

Tattoos for me are a personal thing, not something that just looks \'cool\' or you go along with to fit in with the crowd or whatnot. Personally it kills me to watch someone come in, look at the flash art and go \'gimme that\'. Come on! How the hell is that personal in any relevant form? Or the kids these days that get japaneese script on their bodies and no one can read it.

Still, that being said, my \'hiding\' them isn\'t all that much as what I have planned and in the process of being drawn out starts about an inch above where a short sleeve shirt would lay and goes completely around the arm (a half sleeve essentially), up the shoulders and across it, coming down about a quarter of the way in the middle of the shoulderblades and spine and then back across to the other arm for another half sleeve.

Quite a bit of work, and every bit of it a personal piece for me with only myself and my wife seeing it and the occasional kid in the house as I run around without a shirt or if I decide to go to the park and run around without it. Its not for everyone else, its me and mine.

I found it amazing to see the difference that it made in my wife when she had a butterfly drawn up with the birth stones of our three children and the one we lost before birth and their names circling it. She\'s got it right on the back of her shoulder/neck and you can see it as bright as day if she\'s got her hair up or styles a certain way. She can\'t see it, but it certainly made a difference to her. That being said though, I\'ve had to reign her in from getting a ton more.

Oh, and names. Never. Ever. I love my wife, and she\'s asked me to put her name on my body but I said \'hell no\'. Love her, but no ones name goes on my body unless its my children, and even then, that\'s not likely to ever happen.

i have to say, i would shave my head or at least cut it real short. i would still stay in shape (ish) but mostly for health reasons. as for the clothes - i\'d nick all the top notch stuff. although i\'d probably end up like johnny depp in pirates of the caribbean!

as for tats, i would like one. somewhere where it can be on show but easily covered up, like my back/top of my arm. i was thinking of scroll work with my family motto on it - esse quam videri (to be rather than to seem)

Well... i\'ve got to say i am leaning more and more toward the dragon. Not sure if i could get it on my back though.

Oh, and it gets shown off... mainly at a pool or lake. i remember the first time my cousins saw it... they all asked, \"Is that real?\" (famous first question) and \"What is that?\" (derrr... it\'s your coat of arms!)

But as for dressing and looking a certain way for other people... that aint for me. i cut my hair so it\'s not in my face (gotta be long or short... not in the eyes). Don\'t dress for other people, wear deodorant... not perfume. Don\'t stink, don\'t smell like a tiger lillie either. i\'m a big believer in come as you are.

I personally have 4 tats.

The 1st one that I got is on me left arm/shoulder and is the Deaths Head Tattoo, The same as on Boba Fetts left arm/shoulder.

The Second I got is on my right inner forarm. It has the most meaning to me. It is \"live for today\" in chinese script.

The third is a ying-yang on my left pect over my heart. It is a blue and red ying-yang with some yellow blended in with the red.

The last that I have is a Chinese Dragon and that is on my right upper arm.

I do plan on getting a few more tats in the future. Other than the Chinese writing I have thought long and hard about my tats.

I always wanted to get the family crest on my left shoulderblade. I will have to wait though because I\'m only 16. My dad is one of those \"not while your under my care\" people, so that means not for a while.
