should i keep up with it??

I started painting this mini on christmas holidays, just because i was bored. I had to practise a little bit of metals (\'ve been doing lots of NMMs lately) as well as black.. its pretty difficult to paint black, but i think i have achieved good results in the cloak especially. I always try to blend very very smoothly... It is ovbiously not at all my best, just wanted to check some new tecnhiques i had heard about.. the metals look like drybrushed but nooo its the bad pic again.. hehe loland what else, i didn\'t want to post it until finished, but i don\'t think i am ever going to finish it because i have limited time and have to think about my GD entries! So let me know what you think:D:D

..the eyes.. the skin.. the freehand.. the metals...Get to work!

Finish what you started, yep, that\'s what my mom used to say....:D

You\'ve got my vote for Finishing it as well. I like the chest plates and the mask. The skin tones are really nice as well. Just keep at as that other mini you paint while you are letting the primarry one dry. :D

I\'ll cast my vote to finish it as well. The skin tones and the work on the black cloak look great to me. Seems that with black, you mostly have to work with a color tone to it that works for you, and for this piece the colors you chose seem to work very nicely.

I agree that the chest plate metallic looks a little rough, but I\'m betting that with a slightly smaller pic or something, it won\'t be nearly as noticeable. Even as it is, it looks a darn sight better than anything I can try to put out. I\'m still trying to get a hang of a blending technique that\'s to my liking.

Nice work, the cloak is cool as are the metals but the skin is my favourite part, very well executed! Shame you can\'t enter this for GD really! :D;)

thanks guys i will try to finish it then... when i find some time! hehe the metals look rough, right but it was on purpose, i didn\'t want \"clean\" metals, but dirty and rusted ones. I started by a basecoat of tin bitz. I then added boltgun metal to the tin bitz until boltgun on its own. Then boltgun+ chainmail until chainmail, then chainmail + mithril silver until mithril for the very last highlights. After, i took lots of tones of dark red and browns to give the rusted effect and to fit them with the general mood of the mini, so i diluted a lot these dark tones and gave like thousands of layers until it got the colour... have to improve them a lot yet, i know but what do you want, its one of my very first attempts... :)

Those metals are solid,I love the colouring used (reds and browns) they give a beautiful and original looking effect,I\'m trying things like this out myself at the minute and this one definitely inspired me to have a go at this technique (I\'ve done reds in golds but never silvers!) Look forward to seeing it done! :D;)

You must finish it.
It would be a travesy to leave that incomplete when the work done so far is so good.

broke n english: show me when you have it finisehd:) its nice to give color to metals, i think it can be done with almost all colors... purple, blue, green... IMO it just have to fit with the whole colorscheme

You\'re right! (about the colours) I\'m learning to take pictures with my Digicam at the minute,I\'ll have some pictures up when I get them half decent lol Take it easy ;)

Well speaking of adding colors to metals I have a mini up in which I did just that. I added a red glaze to the gold\'s and a sky blue glaze to the silver\'s. I would more than welcome votes on it, If you don\'t mind. Its not purrfect but hey it looks cool in real life. If you wish to look click on the name. Thorgram

Now back to your mini Albert I also like the freehand on the cloak. I also like the slight ruffness to the the metals. It gives them that old pocked look.

Its a lovely mini, i agree with the others you simply must finish him. I like the metals the way they are, imo they fit the mini really well. Im very amazed of your skintone. Please tell us the colors.

thanks to all guys you are really encouraging me to finish this little guy:D
the skin was very slow to do, that\'s how i did it (all colours citadel):

- 25% scab red + 75% dwarf flesh
- Add dwarf flesh until dwarf on its own.
- Then add elf flesh to dwarf flesh and keep adding alf until only elf
- then pallid flesh to elf flesh until only pallid (it gave a more red tone, its like pink+white)
- then pallid + white and finally skull white for the very last highligts.
- After some very diluted glazes of red in the stomach where the skin gets in contact with the metal plates.
- Finally shadow grey+ hawk turquoise for the veins (which the camera didnt take very well...)

And thats all! Pretty easy you only need to blend well between each coat of paint. Hope this helps!:D:D
