I think you should go as well, socially as it means more people will able to meet up, technically as you are one of the most skilled painters/modelers there is at current time. It would be a shame not too be able to discuss the hobby with someone so revered.

Dont go for the trophies if your sick of the judging go for the people that will make the day enjoyable for you.

I havent met any of the guys from here but am really looking forward to the meet up

Dear Jim
could you fix it for me so that Adrian Bay will attend this years Golden Demon Competition... Last years event was OK for me I won something (Yay) but the best part of the day was just sitting and having a chat with a cool, clever and open guy.His few words of encouragement and intervention have spurred me to up my game and push further than I dared hope in the hobby.. Several email and telephone conversations since the event have made me realise just how incredibly lucky the UK miniature painting community is to have such a world recognised and very humble star in it\'s midst . I think his attendance will always be a boost for uk painters and the model painting community as a whole. so please please fix it for me so he will attend..
thank you .
Rob .. Leeds..
p.s could you also fix it for Adrian to have computer lessons so he can share his work with us all in ever more detail...

Hmmm...so you asked them to review how the judging was done and you had some chats with GW etc and it made absolutely NO difference at all ???

Well, if it were me, then I\'d say Don\'t go. It\'s all a matter of whether you want to stand up to your principals or not. I don\'t see it as cutting your nose off to spite your face - you had some valid grieviences and those reasons are still there. Why bother to stuff another £25 quid and then-some into their pockets?

Platoon Britannica is a place where you will meet the UK painters and to my mind a much better environment. Don\'t forget there is also Salute - a fantastic show where a lot of the UK crowd also go. Things don\'t have to revolve around GW if you don\'t want them too ;)

I realise my telling you not to go won\'t be popular, but it\'s just trying to look at the main reasons you gave for not going in the first place.

Failing that, if you want to pay out £25+ to meet up with some mates, then go. You don\'t have to enter the competition.. :innocent:

thats how i see it. i ignore most of the show. it\'s worth it though for the up and coming stuff, seeing the comp, getting some pre-release and meeting up with everybody

Part of my Manager training was running the bus from Glasgow a few years back....
It\'s a long long haul .. going back is worse than getting there.. Best advice take some vicks or similar to put under your nose on the way back..I mean it get\'s pretty sweaty on the way down but after a day running round the NEC the way back is ...well...interesting.
Also a nice comfy pillow....at the end of the day you will be o the go for over 24hours so any chance of rest needs to be comfortable... good luck:beer:

thats terrible advice! we used to suggest that to students going to the anatomy labs or post mortems for the first time as a cruel joke. it seems like a good idea but in fact opens the airways so the smell hits you like a wall!

If you think thats bad, Scotty/Spacemunkie shared a car with me (02 or 03) and we had had a hard-drinking night in Nottingham the night before (I think a Kebab +extra chilli was involved).

Poh Poh POOOOOO! I cleared areas in front of cabinets with what I produced :|~

Mr Bay, please go, I promise not to drink (more than a nice bottle of red) the night before :D

I would love to be able to do all three shows but alas the world is against me and even doing GD this year is going to be a hell of a push do to flying out the following day but I do intend to try and make it so I can have a chat with everyone and meet up with friends before I go.

Yee Haw!!!!

Why don\'t you do a load of \'pre-orders\' postage free for the UK crew (for collection at the bar/Demon fix-it tables). I want a load of pewter Cables for some projects I have on the go.

It may not pay for the flight etc, but it will raise extra revenue.

???
