Agree with Tero and Jan here, the light backdrop is better. Still, I don't think you are wrong for trying both, you never know!

Sorry , but I like the darker back drop , it gives them a darker feel ,as in evil. Still shows up the contrast but puts them in a light they suit ,dark and sinister

So ill be bouncing back b/n oistenes commission to finishe the marshals while I go ahead on my newest unit. You can notice on the third model I've gotten as far as "global" geometric shading. This does much more than just shade the mini , what it does first and foremost is "outline and define" the geometric shapes of the mini. Weather spheres, rectangles triangles etc wether curved surfaces or flat etc. after all highlights make a model pop only when in the company of shadows. Enjoy and stay tuned.View attachment 40130 although I'm partial t black they both are used by me because each gives a different result so I use both but not this time as I left it on the ground and yours truly sammi the corgi decided to use it as a wee wee pad.. So it should be dried next set of progress photos so stay tuned.

So to get this right re the global geometric shading, you've basecoated then added black to shade, picking out the where the light will fall ?
It will then be a case of working your skin tones and blending everything to smooth the transition from dark to light ?

Exact am do ..the purpose is to mold the shapes by smoothly "outling" the muscles and shapes so when the highlighting comes into play it shows up more...REM not just to shade but to sculpt and outline using your shadows.thanks ter.

Here are some updated I'm going back and fourth . I love this new rotund I got I've never felt more jolly about my results on models. I'm really having so much fun with this figopedia. And also another thing I've changed is I'm using all reaper master series paints. Along with my routine and my paint preference I've also switched to the new citadel brushes I use and large base coat brush as my feathering brush as the broad flat tip make two brush blending a snap. Stay tuned in a day or so should have some pics of more progress along with oistenes death marshals.enjoy folks off to see ANTMAN!! I know I know but my girl wants to see it. For all people out there with a better half a,all I can say is happy wife happy life!!!

Awwhhh thanks so much epics. I so appreciate that coming from you. No reall plans to set my heart in winning again but what I will guarantee is other competitors will be wishing I'm staying home. So getting my skills tweaked a bit here and there. Truthfully I CANNOT WAIT TO TRY THIS ON MY NEW Models I've ordered but even more so than this I cannot wait to try this routine and apply it to some large scale historical minis.you know those big fat 54 millimeter badboy mamba jahamba ones!! Lol

My feeling is whenever we can get our girlfriends/fiances/wives to support our hobby, don't mess with it! Keep the white background!

I like the new addition to the group. Is that body paint on him or is he really just all cut up and scarred?

Considering how these guys are turning out, I'm very interested to see what you do with your next larger scale project. What 54 did you have in mind? Or is that confidential for the time being? I just picked up a 90mm one from Pegaso (makes those 54's look tiny). It's another potential CB piece. Lots color and tons of opportunities for freehand work, so it should be a good competition piece if I don't screw it up!

Well bud, these 3 minis are pretty dam good, hell everything you touch is amazing, but I have to say I don't believe these guys are your best. It might be a different story in person, but I believe your bearserker bust still holds the number one spot in my eyes.

I have not been able to put myfinger on it, but the Figopeadia influence is giving these an extra "sparkle" while keeping the
BAM trademark. Now i personally don't like the minis, but the paint job makes for pleasing viewing....dare i say it is a similar type of feeling I get watching Sproket's minis when they start coming alive???:waiting:

Well done BAM!
