He fits in very nicely with the other two BAM. They're going to be a fabulous group when you're done.

I am however concerned about the snow on the other two - I don't know if it's only obvious because your new guy is unbased at the moment - but, the mounds of snow seem very uniform in shape and size. There's not enough variation - it looks man-made rather than natural.

Nice job getting into white dwarf again! Congrats!

I know you're just blocking in colors for the new one, but are you planning to do his pants and top of his shirt as the same color? I'd avoid having them match, makes it feel like he's wearing some weird jump suit. Of course by picking different colors to shade and highlight them that would certainly distinguish the two.

So I was noticing the orange blob slowly eating your figure. Are you using that to steady him while you paint? If you pin the feet, consider getting a universal jeweler's clamp/vise. They work great for figures, shields, flags, etc. You can find them on Amazon for $12-15. They're nice for 54mm, 75mm, and can even work for some 90mm figures. Might be a little big for the typical 28mm, but larger 28's (ogres, trolls, other beasts) would certainly work.

That's some fine work, BAM! You never did bad flesh and faces, but lately it has truly improved. Also, I'm with Bailey on the jeweler's vice, I actually consider getting another so that I can hold two projects at once.

Lol! Don't go getting all gangsta on me now - we can mix it up here in Johannesburg/Pretoria as well.

Aha - that makes more sense about the snow. I'll leave Bailey to advise you on colour. I'm still learning so I'm interested to see what he (and others) suggests.

Hmmm... I think you're fine keeping the pants brown since that fits with the other two. For the upper part of his shirt, I'm not sure. I could see going a dark shade of brown and painting it like leather. Or, to keep it as cloth, maybe take the dark color of the cloth beneath it (can't tell, looks like a dark blue-grey) and mix it 50/50 with the pale blue of the guy on the left. That way it ties in with a color already on this figure and also links him subtly with one of the other vikings. That's kind of the kick I've been on recently, trying to take colors already on the figure and mix them into other portions to help create more consistency to the look. Blues, browns, and greys can all be mixed together to form some interesting desaturated colors.

Normally I go for somewhat similar colors... so a dark brown into a dark blue. I haven't experimented much with say a dark brown into a light blue or vice versa. You could try it, although coming up with shades/highlights becomes more difficult. If I've got a medium blue + a medium brown, I can shade with a dark blue mixed with a dark brown and highlight with a light blue mixed with a light brown. If I've got a dark blue mixed with a light brown... I guess I try to shade with the same dark blue mixed with a dark brown and then highlight with a light blue mixed with the light brown, but that's going to shift the colors in different ways as you go from light to dark. Anyway, this is the kind of stuff to experiment with on your palette. Mix up some colors along with shadow and highlight tones to see how they look and what you like. There's no right or wrong, it's just creating different looks and picking what you think works best for your subject.

So first off UGGHHH!!! Janet had a business appt with her newest pieces in her line so she's laid up in her studio making ,tinkering, soldering and hammering along with what ever else Asian heritage jewelers do with a jewelry!! But she at least left md to my own devices and her i phone 6!!! This Lil sucker has the best pics not just for a phone. So this is the closest thing I have to show the three models in Ther truest ,raw state of progress .. Here are 3 pics with a very tad of difference of lighting and angles. So enjoy and as a unit ,their coming together ,very slowly but still coming together! Thanks to all and bails my right hand thanks for always refining my talents .:))

Looking good, BAM. The shirt and pants are similar, but don't look like the same material anymore.

What are they looking at?

Ha, it hadn't registered that they're all looking over in the same direction. BAM, you should get this guy and place him off to the left. That way they can all be looking over at him thinking "oh no, not this @$$hole again."
