Thanks muchos torn and diggs- were creeping slowly but getting there. This is the fun part of the painting. What I’ve chosen here I’ll explain. The whole model made up of colors that are compliments. I’ve tied the model in further through the organic material (tentacles) and the living armor. In the armor there are red glazes to use completely colors for shadows. I went a step further by using the 2 complimente Colors in the skin so instead of green armure with pinkishish (red) skin. I went green armor with red shadows and pink tentacles with hints of green . It gives a nice harmony to everything while still keeping its grossness!!!

and to think this unit is still missing TYPHUS, and the new icon bearer and 3 other special CHARACTERS FROM THE DEATHGUARD Rnge. So it’s a mix of 5 deathguard and 5 special DG characters. The greatest thing bout Crystal Brush is that these units that are entries DO NOT have to be game legal. So that helps dimwits like me who don’t know what a game fluff or chaff is!!!

Only rule you ever need to remember is orks never lose. Says so in one of the codexeses.anything after or before that is wrong...so is anyone who says otherwise.

I actually really like your thought behind the tentacles/general squish. Works very well have to say.

As for ork affiliation I guess they are both greeny and have spores in common... Pappa Mork just sounds creepy though. We'll let Nurgle keep that distinction.

Thanks so much torn. I really appreciate you taking notice bud!!!It’s a very informative way to have folks understand why I do certain things and how I’ve learned to approach painting a mini way way way beyond (hmmm -now what color should I paint this or that and hmm that’s good I think that’ll work(nothing wrong with this as everybody starts here). I’ve learned this through a few folks .for one David Powell’s approach. Figopedia - Jeremy tebouls book on light and color. And from researching color theory (my favorite book on the subject is by Betty Edwards and is titled “ color theory “. So every now and then I’ll give a bit of a SBS on how and what are reasons why I’ve done something to show how methodical I am about the painting process. IMHO once learned a methodical approach it really canelevate your final results of your models and how their painted.

I always appreciate your advice on colour theory and composition BaM. You really know your stuff, as evidenced by your work.
Is there something about getting all 3 primary colours on a model?

Yummy! Makes me want one. :D

Btw, as for why you place over people with better technique - people like Roman and James Wappel don't really give a shit about technique - it is all about art for them. What you do with colour, composition etc, all that is far more important than how smoothly you blend!

Thank you all so much guys. Your all a golden bunch!!!
cassar - thank you wonderous marine making friend. Huge compliment.;)
FOXY - thanksmuch my friend- what I can say is if you use compliments of colors- it basically means that all 3 primary colors are included in the compliments - which is more pleasing to the eye. Which is why complements work so well to begin with matey.;)
torn sky - your a man among men bud. Thank you so so much !!!
kruley - my dude - one Love home slice !!!
OIST- Viking war god - that was exactemundo my point bud. That when judging theses judges can be wowed by more than just a super technical facet. I rely much more on a diff look, color theory , and effects of realism. Thank god there is an appreciation for these things. Funny you mentioned 2/3 judges who judged my work st nova. Your def speaking the truth bud.()
