Congratulations to Philadelphia’s very own hometeam. Philadelphia eagles( I’m not a fan - I still bleed my jets green even though they’ll never win a Super Bowl while I’m alive) I have to say these guys played anazung in one of the best super bowls I’ve seen since I’m alive.congrats !!!

I’m folks so here’s the progression on the Arena Rex entry. Footsteps in the sand (ala Oliver “ honorguard” spath) along with some ruined pillars which have a long way to go as far as painting them is concerned. So here you can see the color used in the harmony triangle is also used on the columns to tie the model into the scene on the base.View attachment 63889

He definitely looks ready for action. Knowing you though he’s got several more layers of washes, glazes and weathering to go.

Awesome work

Done increased it a bit more. I don’t thunk I’ll follow it up to where that breastbone is under the pecs. I try to Adhere to the rule of the the darker the change in shade is directly proportionate to the degree of the bend. It’s as slight concave as opposed to the two larger abs and abdominal area containing very deep cuts. It has been increased though under the pecs a bit ad all thy under the sternum by be. Thanks can.;)

This blurred image

Might show things better as what each section as the torso moves from the waist twirls the chst( its highest point most highlighted area) and each abdominal given the shading based on how deep the how drastic the bend is recieving a bit more) figipedia. I’m a stickler for using each and everything I read in that time of goodness!;)View attachment 63894

These again show the rule in effect. It helps folks if you take things not only in shapes but in sections and as individual parts when assigning values to shades and highlight. These are known as secondary and tertiary shades . It took a while for me to see things in this light but now it’s really very helpful in assigning values for realism etc. if we for example take the torso as a whole global mass of a rectangle. Divide it into thirds for example. What this tells us is the chest area will be lightest and the waist area will be darkest. So follow your gradient. Now aside a global mass , you also need to have gradients of sorts in the individual shapes contained in the torso . Abs and obliques are usually spheres and cylinders so you’ll need to know how light from above falls on them( a whole other discussion ;) ) now how much is the gradient valued shades in terms of how dark depends on how quickly and how deeply the angle of bend occurs. So let’s say a square which comes to a 90degreeView attachment 63895 bend inward would have a huge jump in the moving of highlights to Shane. It would have very deep shadows and a steep gradient. The parts with very minor bends would almost stay the same given the value of where they fall on the global shapes gradient.;)
herr are some other gladiators I’ve done I use this on everything as I try to use everything I read or else what’s the sense. After a while it’s second nature. You get used to it. IM not a know it all type guy. If I do something I’ll always try to explain why I’ve done it . Miniature painting thru science and methodology;))

Nurgle Dude and Running Man, sounds like they're both great 80's movies. No CGI, just awesome but crude practical effects. :D But seriously, BAM, you're a mo-sheen! I wish I had that much time to paint, or energy to stay conscious after a work day.

I'm really fond of the flesh tones you're getting on both models. Lovely, just lovely.

Fancy base mate! great marble, AND EVERY BODY NEEDS A SKULL ON A BASE! I see one of Gareth Nicolas's bases he must have cut the back of the skull to make it look a little more submerged into the ground, I think I will try that soon.
