Damn, that knight has seen better days. Super rusty but it works. There's so much going on, I wish there was a way to make the face more of a focal point. But I think that more an issue with the sculpt as the box art has the same problem. Anyway, that's probably more a concern for a standalone figure. In a group I don't think it matters nearly as much. All in all really cool paint job.

TThanks bails yeh I figured it out early on when I saw the face was obscured and just the Lil bits of it not engulfed by wiring or in shadow if I would've darkened the armor alot the fact of so many edge highlights from alot of edging ,no matter what I did add color, take a was color, everything I tried I realised it's super detail and numerous parts that had to be edge highlighted all took away from the face.it was a tough tough model.but I'm Def presenting him with fulgrim and probably curse no horus because he won Sci fi single gld last year..lol something diff,I know the sheer size of this Sci fi unit will at least have the judges wanting to not forget looking at it this time :/.

I agree with Bailey about the face, but agree that it is the sculpt. I noticed that the brightest metal seems to be the thumb and finger of the lowered right hand. Maybe if you pop the top edge of the face guard and the circumference rim of the head guard all the way up to a Mithril Silver you'd draw the attention to the face.

Btw, it is damn hard to give someone of your skill any advice that could be useful, but we want all our cmon team to kick butt at awards.

GGuys I've tried everything it's so ridiculous to get this face to pop I even went up to valley true steel on the edging of the blue, well the dark blue guards, but I thought of doing am osl but already glued the head 8 place it sucked so bad when I realized Ide glued it down..ahhhhh why did I glue it down.this Def is the toughest model I've painted in my entire life.load with edgehighlights, problem is like SM armor the edgehighlights re what always pops the most on any model.ahhhhh this Belive me guys was so damn tough that there were times I put it down for the day.:/ I never do that.lol

Krule he's standing on a titan its huge thisbase.hopefully the true test is proper pics today along with how hell contrast with fulgrim and how they'll as a unit will contrast with the third model.problem. is silver with edgehighlights of silver will Def clash with flesh colored faces it's the model how it's made the tubeing around his head ,I always follow the box art, will clash with even white highlight on his face.but this being the most realistic silver I've done I've made many focal points, which is cool in my book.I'll get some real pics up today and with fulgrim that be two down and one to go in the Sci fi squad..now this can change if anew box of 40k orks come out early enough I'll have 7-8 entries but 3 main projects which are the hist unit, historical single and large model also xzezbeth will be in fantasy single another fav of mine.thanks all

Just looked at the rest of the primarch and the third model for this unit will be ANGRON....classic and the first of his kind from the heresy collection.what do you guys think.?

I have no idea how to respond to this thread, except to say "DAMN! That is one complicated mini right there." As a newbie I probably shouldn't even be commenting here. *looks around in case someone has seen her skulking in the experienced painters' forums*

I can totally understand what you mean by having to take a break - that is a lot of edge highlighting which you have executed very nicely. Although he's quite a "busy" sculpt you've kept him quite well balanced in that the eye doesn't get fixated on any one area, but can move around to take all of your work in. I also agree with Bailey03 and KruleBear that it seems to be a sculpt issue with the face.

I hope you enjoyed painting him. :)

YYes very correct arch ,that's what I ended up in that direction sometimes es models get more than 1 focal point as so to speak keep the eye moving a sense of perpetual balance though most of the ti e I'll plan for one or the other this was just how this particular model ended up its light vs light and I really wanted to showcase the armor with my superior weathering skills agai st metals and chevrons.lmao,I'm really am intrigued by him every time I look proper pics will show how truly beautiful he is and how well he contrasts Asa hole vs a whole with fulgrim.
Just picked up 3 vikings /saxon warriors from andrea models these will be the start of y historical unit...entitled "ANCESTORS" ..STAY TUNED and hanks to all and epics you da man bud.lol arch skulking lollololol

Sweet, I like those Andrea vikings. I totally want to steal... er um, I mean borrow that idea. There are some great characters in there. I'd love to use them in a mead hall diorama at some point. There's some that would work really well, while others could with a bit of converting. Sigh, too many projects and too little time! Anyway, I look forward to seeing which ones you picked for your squad.

Proper pics

Compliments of the lovely Janet!!! Baily your gonna live what I picked up and your Ine if the only people I can see doing a thumbs up job in a large dio with many Vikings at a mead hall that's probably the check winner once completed. Gave some new photos too of my sci fi squad coming into fruition it shows easily each model and the sheer magnitude of work in this line of models. Each one Alone meh m!!! But put em in a group and the judges have to give it a few looks to at least make the first cut!!!;)

Breathtaking. Excellent work, rust on the base is brilliant. The whole thing is an absolute great. It's not a problem with her face hidden in the cabling for me. Great techno-life charracter. Maybe a little more contrast around the cables would benefit ... But... maybe not:laugh:
