BAM, I promised to send chocolate for Jan but I keep forgetting - I'll get hold of some UHU (of the right kind) and send along with it.

When I remember. :p

Show went great back to finishing a model focusing on contrast points. Although there is quite a bit of work unfinished, you can see contrast used in a variety of ways such as dark / light , warm ,cool, complimentary colors, gloss / Matt and a dirtied cape and bloodied up points used to contrast through texture.

Mud on the cloak adds a nice touch and helps to break up the large stretch of red that kept drawing my eye away from the rest of the mini.

Do you varnish as you go along to achieve matte/gloss contrasts? Or do you use paint on varnish at the end?

Really beautiful base this one John ;)

Which brand and material are those little plants that you added, if I may ask you?

Oh and maybe if that column would be a little more behind the miniature it would look even better... I mean, instead of placing the column at ten o'clock, placing it at eleven o'clock. (but maybe it's just the angle from which you shoot the pic)

The brass etched plants are from the jungle basing kit from GW...nothing else more than that. I also used things that you see in other of my base works like ivy and leaves from woodland scenics and fine tufts along with dead static grass..thanks glad everybody likes it.

I assume you aren't done with the foliage. But I noticed that the front set of green ferns appear a little bland and could use some additional color and shading.

This would have been taken with a camera but jannie was too tired from getting done with her jewelry show from what we have just returned. So tomorrow a proper pic will be taken and hell probably be posted into the gallery so, think of the red ontop of red shows how nice the green pillar column came out. Enjoy.again an excercise to show the 5 LAYERS OF CONTRASTS- the more of these used and better accomplished , the better a model will have that "POP" to the viewer .

You've managed to turn a mini I wasn't very visually excited by into something that's made me stop and say "Oooh". So great job. :D

I love this. I particularly like how this model, which you wouldn't expect in a jungle-like setting, really fit in.

Kind of a conqueror look in it now. ^^

Beautiful work BAM contrasts are the key to appeal the eye, must take note of all those kinds. Your words about them remind me some Gestalt theories that are buried somewhere on my brain.
