Thanks moe and sicko !!! Your the goods. After last year I've decided against another unit of 54 mm historical unit. However this is the first of a 3 man gladiatorial unit made up of ARENA REX gladiators. I wanted as always my flesh times to look like a Boris valleo painting. After all he is my favorite artist of all!View attachment 50943
As always stay tuned for this

I want to share with everybody how I decode when contrast is enough. This is a fine line that transcends not just which colors to use like conplimeyeey(if everybody recalls this is explained in my thread as being 1/5 points on how to achieve contrast when painting models). What I do is a big of the near / far test - which is a model up close and far away should both be able to have your eye discern all the diff surfaces on the model. But for the far test ill cup my hand like a telescope. Ill look through my hand as if I'm a general surveying my opposing army. Ill set this target through my hand on the model if the model looks like a realistic entity (realism as well) then I know I've achieved the task. Is this full proof... No. But this works for me. It's something everybody can try and see if they achieve the same satisfactory result . There are time ill get a hyper contrast and times ill get a less contrasted model. My point is whatever you do the model has to be pleasant in your eyes as the artist. It's very easy for all of us ,including myself to tell others , hey it needs a bit more of this or a bit less of that.alrhough folks mean well and certain advices need to be adhered to without question I've realized it's nothing more than one telling another do this this way because that my style and I/we feel our style is the best bet. Remeber guys advice on the forums is subjective -unless your ten ball or baily in this case take any and all of their advice because quite simply they know what they are doing and are both very good at lending how / why they give the help they do.
