Not sure how, but you just keep getting better. I mean normal people usually call it good at perfection, but you are just not human.

Great Job. I checked out the box art on GW's site and their Death Guard look like a bunch of sissy compared to yours.

Morning update: View attachment 65442so guys remember another nitionnive mentined in my thread in reference to things I’ve come to learn in my journey to paint a better miniature. EVERYBIDY DOES IT EVEN MYSELF ESPECIALLY!!! Along the painting process the more a model gets complete the more it begins to let look” meh it’s not as good as I thought it hmm it’s missing something the others have etc” then from the point when your starting to finish up until the LAST BRUSH STROKE” the model takes in a WHOLE different look . It starts to look marvelous. So guys-if your model is at a stage where you say to yourself damnit it’s not looking as good as I wanted it or as good as what I envisioned- that’s when you remember -WHAT UNCLE BAMB SAID- FINISH THE MODEL WITH THE SAME CARE YOU STSTED WITH AND I GURANTEE AT THE LAST NRYSH ATEOKE IT WILL LICE UO TO YOURMOST PERFECT DREAMS OF IT!!!

Why is BLACKLINING SO NECESSARY!!!

Hey gents I’ve been known to be a huge advocate of an age old yet effective technique which adds a level of contrast that no other technique compares for the simple basic reason black is the darkest colors / white is the highest level of highlights. When they are in each other’s company you get an effect that mirrors the example in about to show you it is simply the highest level of contrast amongst the things in the model. Let’s take the idea that in painting , illustrating or what have you black is only that dark when it’s in the presence of white and white is only white in the presence of black.
Weve all seem this example and THIS EXAMPLE IS WHY BLACKLINUNG WORKS SO WELL!!!View attachment 65444now you can use brown lining , grey lining etc etc or black which is what I use. They all are dark enough to follow this principle!!!

As usual, you are spot on.

A young guys was in my store a couple weeks ago and said he wished his blending was as smooth as some of the busts I have in the showcase and asked if I knew what he was doing wrong. He explained how he was doing it and I replied, "You are doing it right, you just aren't done. Go back home and finish it. Keep doing what you are doing and don't stop when you get tired or think it should be done. Stop when you are happy with the results." Everybody (including me) seems to be looking for the holy grail of blending - great results without putting in the work. (spoiler alert - there is no quick way to paint a great mini)

Speaking of Black Lining...

Last week I watched 10 hours of Jen Haley and Anne Foerster on DVD. (Never try to binge watch this video without lots of alcohol) One of the best takeaways from the video was black lining. Not just for contrast, but to get those hard to reach places done first so you don't have mishaps later on. Her method was to use the darkest shadow level for that particular portion. I did this on a piece I started and it really sped things up because I could move faster when the fear of going outside the lines was gone.

This is why I don't paint much. Instant gratification is what I need!!!! I CRAVE IT!!!
