Silent Hill Nurse WIP

Nearly done now...

...remaining work includes: right thumb & forearm; calves need smoothing; heels; basing.

Lower legs added to my next Nurse armature:

I'm well on track for completion ready for painting in a week and a half.

Unless I find anything that particularly bugs me over the next week, this mini is done:

I'm not so happy about the right hand: the best I could make out of a bad situation. The only way to correct this would be to cut away a substantial portion of the mini (the pipe forms part of the armature). Another learning experience I guess.

I look forward to painting her next weekend (as in next week!). Parts of the sculpt aren't so smooth but I think the texture will add to the character of this mini.

I had some fun over the last few days making this Mannequin from Silent Hill 2:

Nothing too taxing and gives me something extra to paint at the weekend along with my Nurse.

I may create more of these whenever I have spare putty to hand: they make nice little anatomical studies.

I spent an hour or so o armatures today - it's too hot for any 'serious' sculpting today! Refer to my above post (10th April) for Female armature 1.

Female armature 2:

Armatures 1 and two will likely become female characters (e.g. Escher Gangers from GW's Necromunda or characters from the movie Sucker Punch).

Female armature 3:

This pose is loosely based on a Pussy Cat Dolls photo taken from a newspaper and will likely become another Silent Hill nurse.

Female armature 4:

I currently have no proposals for this armature. Time will tell!

More ass to come! Next on the agenda should be more work on the Slaanesh Terminator. Then more ass...

PS I started playing Silent Hill 3 over the weekend. I can see many more Silent Hill sculpts to come.

You have to work from the arse, especially on females. It's one of the most important parts to get right!

In my research for this project I have been reminded how many incarnations of the Silent Hill Nurse there have been.I have come to realise that I must scuplt them all! In particular the original concept which was visualised carrying an IV. Very creepy:

I'm at my parents this weekend and have dug out my old GW paints. Although I started the day with absolutely no intention of watching the Royal Wedding, the fact that we had builders in led me to the only available work surface in the house: in front of the TV. I was pleasantly surprised and actually found the ceremony quite moving. Having said that, I was highly disappointed by the lack of a 'wardrobe malfunction' on Kates part. Not to worry.

Having spent the last few hours just laying down the undercoat and base colours I can see why I gave up on painting long ago! It must be said that the undercoating of the mannequin went much more smoothly than on the nurse, which must show the smoothness of my sculpting is improving with every sculpt. If I can get a hold of my dads camera I will take some photos once I've made more progress. I hope to have the painting finished this weekend.

I did start work on a Pyramid Head a few years back but lost his sword during a house move. Plus it was fairly shite anyway. Revisiting that sculpt is definitely on my hit list.

I had a go at doing one of the "straight-jackety" things from the streets in SH2. It was fairly easy as the 'skin' covers the arms and face, so you only have to imply the limbs underneath. Thanks for inspiring me to retry that project.

Also: Pyramid Head- YES! Good call!

xaeromancer, you should post a photo of that mini! I'd been meaning to make one myself but couldn't find any reference material that I deemed to be good enough. I should get round to finishing the paint job on the nurse as I'm eager to see it finished.
