Silent Hill Sculpts 2013

Just wanted to share a few Silent Hill sculpts I've been working on lately. All of which from Silent Hill2.

The first is my second attempt at the Mannequin creature (40mm tall):

I sculpted it over a day and painted it the next (if memory serves me correctly) and took 4 hours at a guess.

The second is my first attempt at a Lying creature:

Whilst not my greatest work I'm very proud as it took me only an hour or two. I look forward to painting it!

The third is the wonderful Pyramid Head:

I actually started this in 2007 or so and it's been gathering dust since I lost his sword long long ago. I've suddenly found the motivation to continue and had the spark to end the creative block that stalled work.

Thanks! Yes, I saw the latest film, in 3D and really enjoyed it. I thought the atmosphere was captured perfectly and although the storyline was nothing special it didn't spoil it. I did think a few of the monsters were pretty poorly executed: the mannequinn monster looked a bit wrong and the Pyramid Head and blade handed monsters were clearly just actors in latex suits. Not that that matters, I'm not insisting on CGI, it was just clearly a bit of a rushed job. Great visual experience though!

ah, silent hill is one of my favorite sources of inspiration what comes to this hobby. I really like what you've done, the creatures look as their replicas in the games...

I also made a version of pyramid head - but it's beefed up to match my Ogre army! Check it out! (The pyramid was a bliss to build)

That's great! How did you make the helmet?

It's made out of thick card an mosquito net + some guitar wire... plus there's nuts from finger skateboard. a little bit of green stuff and a ton superglue. I'm eager to see how your slim pyramid head turns out!

Brilliant work!
Silent Hill 2 was the only one I finished, though I still have 3 out in the shed waiting...

Thanks! SH2 was truly great. SH1 was fantastic, just for being so original. SH3 is alright, atmospheric and all, but not as fun or interesting as 1&2.

Finally finished painting my Lying figure, so here it is alongside my recent Mannequin sculpt.

I just finished SH: Downpour, and really really liked it. I might even go so far as to name it my favourite SH game (altho to be fair I haven't played Homecoming or Shattered Memories). I just found the story and atmosphere very captivating. The otherworld sequences are also very good.

As for the paint job, I think it's nice, but the sculpt lacks the smoothness the lying figure really needs to look all weird and slippery like it should. That said, you did say you sculpted it in a few hours, and it's well better than anything I could manage :)

Thanks! You're completely right about the sculpt. It was a bit of a rush job with only limited access to reference material. I'm really pleased with the PJ (the photo doesn't do it justice) but the actual sculpting is something I'll certainly be revisiting at some point. The posing is something I would also improve on these sculpts.
