That took a little bit of effort to come clean about and I\'m glad you see what I did as separate from this Holy Grail of image doctoring...bit of a relief I\'d say!

By the way, if someone wants to see the original, I can e-mail it you on request. I tried copying it into the text here but it won\'t have it! Maybe someone can put it up as an URL for me then so as to compare the gammy eye with my replacement?

FIrst off, Rev, what you did was in no way \"criminal\" or even \"Unacceptable\".

However, it does show some of the potential for misuse. You were able to move an eye around without it being obvious. If that\'s possible, don\'t you think other alterations would be possible that would require a great deal of scrutiny to detect? I\'m not accusing anyone of doing it. I\'m just saying it is quite possible. Almost anything is possible. I feel fairly certain that using Photoshop, you could transfigure a \"6\" into an \"8\". Hell, with a good 3D graphics program, you could transfigure \"nonexistant\" into an \"8\" !

The next question would be whether or not it would be worth the bother. To me, it certainly wouldn\'t. Too much effort for to little reward. Like you said, Finn, even the \'gods\' aren\'t driving Rolls Royces.

Tyra Banks says people are disappointed to meet her because she\'s not nearly as perfect as the magazine pictures....Kate Winslet complained when British GQ altered her photos to make her legs look thinner....
If she\'s not that thin or her chest isn\'t that big, the photo can always be altered.

That sort of work is easy. I have done it hundreds, if not thousands of times. I still can\'t make a \'silk purse out of a sow\'s ear\' however. I can\'t make someone who is dog ugly look beautiful, but I can make someone who is already beautiful, slightly more beautiful. The sort of people who do these professional jobs however on actresses and supermodels are experts in their field and get paid accordingly. They are unlikely to b*gger about with toy soldiers.

Having just admitted that I have some of the technology available, there is a world of difference between enhancing a face etc and enhancing a mini. We don\'t scrutinise faces etc, we are programmed to look at them holistically and just \'take them in\' at an almost subconscious level. If we didn\'t do that make-up wouldn\'t work. You\'d just think, \"why has that person painted their face?\"

The big difference is that we scrutinise the minis posted on CMON. They are looked at with an experts eye. Manipulation of the sort I would use on a \'make over\' job would be obvious unless done by an expert in their field. To be honest, if you wanted to carry out this level of manipulation, it would be quicker to master painting in the first place than master the requisite skills in Photoshop.

My way to use photoshop

I normaly use photoshop to make textures for my gamelevel or those papercutouts ....
for example this.

the blue in the background is technical, to make is unvisible in the game.

Sorry I don\'t have your proof, but to be honest, you\'ld be a fool to waste your energy with Photoshop for this type of trickery. Just buy a cheap Wacom Tablet and a copy of Painter, and with a little time, your blends will be at least 9 quality. It has a wonderful little \"water\" blend tool that would deffinently do the trick, especially when zoomed way in to commit the offense. But what else would you expect from a software package designed to imitate a paint brush. You would have to be careful with your lighting when photographing though, so you don\'t muck up any real shadows.
