Sin City (The Movie)

I went and saw the movie Sin City today and I have to say it is probably one of the more entertaining movies I have ever seen and highly recommend it as long as you aren\'t adverse to nudity, violence, extreme violence, some really nasty stuff violence and ... funny violence.

I found myself laughing my arse off at scenes that you know just aren\'t funny but you just can\'t believe they put it on screen, or more to the point, the circumstances that led up to it. I found myself chuckling and saying \'damn\' outloud more than once.

(shaking head and still laughing about the face on asphalt car driving scene).

Oh, and they have something against genitals in this movie ... you\'ll know when you see it.

The whole drawn backgrounds/rain/dark aspect with a bit of color thrown into it really was well done too. I expect this will be one of those talked about movies for a long time.

Anyhow, plan on seeing it again with the wife here next week as she\'s mad at me for seeing it (hey, she\'s out of town) and I certainly think it is well worth it.

Marv was the best ..

Yeah, I heard about the genitals thing... yeek!

Annoyingly, the only place it\'s playing here in Guelph is waaaaaay on the outskirts at the other end of town, and consequently almost impossible for me to get to w/o a car. I might have to try and see it in TO soon, I don\'t want to miss this one!

Wooo! I saw it on Saturday. I loved it. The dark /sarcasimal humour was great. The jump around timeline confused me there at the end, but that\'s ok. Just means I\'ll have to watch it again to figure it out! :D

Oh good.... I was thinking everybody has to think she is hot too.

She looks good in the Fantastic Four movie coming out too.

The only cinemas here in the G-spot are the Cineplex at the mall (near my house), the shitty \"3-star\", the rep cinema downtown, and the Galaxy at the other end of town (very very far, and also where \"Sin city\" is playing). Surprisingly far for a \"small\" town in fact but it\'s really just that if I\'m going to spend >45 minutes on the bus, I might as well catch a greyhound to Toronto (1 hour) and hang with my friends there.

@Saxon - I haven\'t read the comics but I liked Miller\'s Dark Knight Returns and Batman: Year One books. He\'s got a dark, dark vision of what a hero really is, and he had it back when Spawn was but a doodle in teenage Todd McFarlane\'s schoolbooks. From what I\'ve heard the movie is pretty faithful to the comics, though it actually interweaves the stories from four separate series.

I don\'t know if I have ever read Sin City. I get it confused with Hard Boiled, another of Frank Miller\'s very dark work.

Frank Miller\'s versions of Batman are among the best out there, as is his version of Daredevil. He is definately one of the best writers.
