Just agreeing with the above posts, You have to sell and buy a little on ebay to get your rating up some. And NEVER put Pro painted. (In your case though, it really is) When I search for minis on Ebay, I exclude auctions with \"pro painted\" in the title.

Im pretty much in the same boat.I know I wont get what I want for my minis until I get a better feedback rating,or one at all in my case.
So Im going to auction minis I dont mind making a profit on and just see what happens.

Tabithan,
It\'s not just about how good your rating is (I\'m around 180, but a couple of minis I sold went for only the min bid), but how good your reputation is, which is something different entirely. Since I\'ve only sold painted minis a couple times on eBay, I don\'t have much of a reputation. Much business in the painted mini field comes from repeat buyers. Folks who drop serious cash on minis don\'t want to bid a mini up high if they aren\'t sure what kind of quality they\'re going to get - a picture can only tell so much. Someone who has bought your minis in the past and knows what they look like up close is more likely to \"risk\" a higher bid than someone who hasn\'t ever seen your stuff in person. In other words, you aren\'t going to get the big bucks right off the bat, you have to establish yourself first. Once you\'ve sold some minis, people you have sold them to, or people that have lost out on your stuff to people you have sold them to, or people who\'s friend bought that mini and showed it off at the local store will start looking for your auctions. Now that they know what kind of quality they are getting, they are better able to judge what kind of price they are willing to pay. The most important thing for this is that you keep putting things up on a regular basis. If you\'re only putting up one item a month, your name isn\'t going to get out there. One a week is better. Multiples in a week are best :) I\'m too slow of a painter to get out multiple minis in a week, so I sell only rarely on eBay, and probably get a little less than they are worth because of it. Just be sure to set your minimum bid close to the lowest amount you\'re willing to part with it for. Once you\'re better known you may be able to change that (I know some people start their bidding at a dollar with no reserve... if you\'re well known enough, you\'ll get the bidding up to a decent amount... I\'m not though so I have to start the bidding near the minimum I am willing to accept).

Dragonsreach:

thanks fur ya kind comments....:) Mannnn i wish I had that much confidence in my own work...

Nelson:

ha ha... yeah I\'ll remember to take face shots at close range next time...... I dun think its shooting myself in the foot..... will just have to make sure faces are extra smooth..:D

Spanky:

seriously i never thot that a simple hyphenated word like \"pro-painted\" would evoke such a reaction... I guess I\'ll put my name next time... see how it goes.

Katie:

Hey thanks for all the advice you have given.

I don\'t think I could put up a few minis a week. yeah, like ya, I paint slow... I am thinking of how I can speed it up... I tend to collect them all and sell at the end of the month... helps me keep track.

Glad to be of help

I don\'t think I agree that your reputation is not built by buying as well as selling. The numeric score is for all transactions. For instance, mine is 32. What shows initially in your profile are comments from all transactions. A person can click to see feedback from buyers, sellers, and what you\'ve left for others.

It speaks well of you if you deal fairly with others, whether it\'s a $100 custom paint job or $.50 thing-a-ma-bobs.

Of course, I\'ve got impecable feedback from people who\'ve bought my stuff, and only get middlin\' prices, so what do I know? :D

I need to post another sale and see how things turn out.

Your real-world reputation does have an impact. Check the prices that Arkaal got for his minis (you can go to his gallery to for this)

I think the lowest he\'s ever sold a mini for was around $40, the highest almost $350. He was getting good prices from day one based on his rep, and once people caught on that it wasn\'t a joke or a lie, the bids skyrocketted.

By the way, your Damsel closed at a pretty good price, didn\'t it? Sounds like you are on your way.

Hmmmm....just on the point made earlier about ratings and cost etc. Whilst scanning CMON i noticed on the left hand tool bar a model rated at 4.2 , this mini has achieved a total of 6 bids and a total price (excluding p&p) of $106 (someone convert that into real money. £55?) anyway, this was in stark contrast to the next mini....a female shaman i believe that whilst rated a 10 had a mighty 0 bids....now, i didn\'t check this fully so i have no idea what its starting price was it may well have been over the odds. But i just thought i\'d say.

EDIT: need to work on the old concentration whilst typing me thinks

Yeah, my last sale, I was able to get 100% feedback response. After I sent the items, I waited a reasonable amount of time (about two weeks after posting the fig) then sent a request for feedback. In my email, I let the customers know that my main concern was that they\'d received the figures and were happy with them. I received 100% feedback for that sale, all of it positive.

Maybe it\'s time I stuck my foot in the water instead of my mouth!

Is it me or.......
every one and their granny is selling on ebay and say its simple.
Im finding it very frustrating.
Im really chuffed though even if the final price didnt cover the mini?

Well, its fairly simple, especially nowadays when eBay has everything automated. In my day... I had to write the contact e-mails myself, now you press a button, enter the total and push another button and eBay does it for you. Once you get the hand of it, setting up auctions is pretty easy too... it may take going through the process a couple of times, but again once you get it down, its pretty easy. And I never start the minimum bid below the original cost of the mini, and I usually tack on a couple bucks more than that for my time painting...
