Yup, chrome was on my mind. No way would i be ever to do it, but Bloodfather just did some lovely chromed armor in his wip which put it in my thoughts.

Krule, that he did! Hrrrm. It would be such a cool effect, I'm just not sure I'm presently up to the challenge. I do have an awful lot of models to practice on, though...

Slooowwwly adding depth to the cloth with some deep purple.

I think I'm gonna try and pitch something into GenCon's general painting contest, too, so I'm reworking Viktoria of Ashes to a (hopefully) better standard. The first pic I posted had TMM, and tonight I covered it all up and tried some NMM, previously attempted--not quite successfully--many moons ago on Amiri's blade. It...actually looks better in the pictures than it does in person, heh.





I just started on the sword. You can almost tell!



Working on her face now, also spent time smoothing out her hair. Haven't reworked her clothes yet.

That orange is slick.. What colors did you use?

Thanks, Khonner! It's P3's Heartfire for the basecoat, shaded with P3's Khador Red Highlight, Citadel's Mephiston Red, and P3's Beaten Purple.

I, uh, went for a walk today, and...



...figured I better start thinking about bases! Basemaking isn't my strong point, so I'm not even really sure what I'm looking for, but these were a cool find:





My town flooded over the summer, and this lumpy, plaster-like stuff is apparently the dried river-mud that that parks folks had to scrape off the sidewalks once the water retreated.

Now I just have to figure out what the heckaroo to do with it all.

Bark seems to be working out the best for Tristan's weenie base.

We are such hoarders in this hobby lol. I like Tristan's base with the pinted overhang. Nice start.

Thanks, Krule, and no kidding--the Drawer of Potential Basing Materials is probably its own ecosystem by now.

Got to work on Viktoria's, too.



There's gonna be a dribble of water coming out of the pipe and the base will have a thin layer of stagnant water. I'm liking where it's going but I'm worried that V is too delicate of a model to pull of the base all by herself, like maybe I need another detail to focus on--something in the water, some recognizable object like trash or a child's doll, or a scrubby tree coming up behind the rock? Hrrrrm.

The base already has a natural theme to it. The water effects should make it perfect.
i think V will fit in very nice and looking again I've noticed her paint scheme is very similar in colour to the base as it looks already.

Ah, funny you should mention the color...



It isn't at all done, but the first couple layers of paint are on. Gonna work on a rusty effect on the base rim. No water yet, just wet paint.

Looks nice and i can see your point about adding something from a competition standpoint. A doll tossed in the water may suggest innocence lost which may work.

Btw i am stealing tht "drawer of potential" marketing line for when the wife asks why i have so much crap.

V is very close to being done! Gotta pick out some details (especially the guns and her belt) and work on smoothing out the highlight on her sword-bearing shoulder, but yeeee.

BloodFather, thanks! And Zab, you'd do that for me? Or maybe I can spare us both the trouble and just melt her down for the plastic...

In all seriousness, I'm struggling with the contrast between her pants and her guns (more specifically, their holsters). I'm not real keen on anything in between her coat and her thigh-highs. I'm thinking I might use some of the violet shadow color from the coat as the primary pants color. Not sure. :/

One more day of work, then two days off to do nothing but PAINT, then GenCon! *sweats*

That's gonna be a pain. Maybe if you warm them up a bit that would bring them out, but it might also draw attention away from the face. Perhaps mix some of the skin tone into the holster color and push the highlights just a bit further?
