Sister is sick...

Hi, all.

My sister Cat is going in for a needle biopsy today to determine for sure if the tumors in her breast are the big C or not...they were found when she took an extra mammography after the doctors detected an inflamed half-hand-sized patch in her stomach that could possibly lead to cancer.

She\'s a great person (not blessed with children espite trying) who delas with any problems around her with a bright and positive mind. Even after learning of her own plight she spends her time comforting those around her.

To those of you out there who pray, please remember her in your prayers.

Jerome, I am proud to send prayers for her. First that it is not cancer, or if it is that the doctors are able to rid her of it.

Nasty disease that has cost me too many friends and family members.

My mum went through this last year. She was diagnosed with breast cancer but as they caught it nice and early the treatment has been 8 weeks of radio therapy and now a pill per day and regular check ups.

Very stressful though and I sincerely wish your sister and your family all the best!

Hi, sorry to hear it and I hope it turns out not to be cancer. I can appreciate what you\'re feeling now. My younger brother has just left the hospital after he was taken in around x-mas. He had an internal bleeding and for days we were not sure how serious it was. They sort of fixed it now but he\'ll be doign a lot of check ups.

Seems like everytime I turn around lately someone I know is getting checked for cancer or has it. I\'m so sorry to hear about your sister. She is and will continue to be in my prayers. My sis thought she had cancer and was one of the lucky one\'s who it turned out to be nothing. Hopefully your sis will have the same result.

I\'m a big, burly guy and I actually had a mamogram (youch, them things HURT). Yes gents it can strike us menfolk too. Turned out to be nothing but there was definately something lumpy there.

Shawn, you may be burly but it takes a big man to admit he had a mammogram. Your honesty is refreshing.

One thought on the positive side is that it\'s 2006 and things medically have progressed ALOT. While cancer is nothing to take lightly, one should also take heart that hugh strides have been made in prevention and treatment so the odds of everything turning out fine are GREATLY better nowdays that just a short time ago.

That is not surprising given that ~1/3 people will get some form of cancer at some point in their lives. Part of the reason is that we are living far longer than we should do. Both my father and Aunt have been sucessfully treated for cancer, treatment is improving all the time.
