Site redesign feedback redux and roadmap

Now that we've all had about 4 months to get used to the redesign and incorporated a ton of suggestions and tweaks, what else would you like to see?

On the roadmap are a custom designed points / achievements system for doing stuff that is actually useful to the community as a whole, such as:-
1. Posting pictures (and leaving them up)
2. Leaving comments
3. Voting
4. Forum participation
5. Supporting the site
6. Secret combos! heh heh

Possibly points can be spent in the store, I need to figure out the economics of that first though.

Also on the way, a mobile version of the site, but this is further down the road.

super YAY! with bells on. A mobile version would be aces :D

The only gripe I have with the current layout is the (slight) difficulty of actually seeing and voting on new submissions. They're kinda hidden out of the way. Once you know you have to click twice on the "browse gallery" tab then it's all well and good, but it's not immediately intuitive to do so. Most folk seem to click on the "browse gallery" tab and then move down to click on one of the options (Top 10, Top artists, etc). A big red button somewhere that just says "click here to vote on new stuff" would help the numpties like myself find the voting gallery more easily. Other than that, job's a good un. Keep up the good work, and thanks for the site.

Exactly what I have been saying ever since the new design was launched. It wasn't until a few weeks ago that I figured out how to see the new pictures, and that was because someone in the forums explained it properly. This problem relates directly to the dramatic drop in the number of votes per submission we have all seen recently.

The layout has been fairly stable since 2006. The "Start Voting" button was changed to "Random Image" specifically because someone mentioned that upon first visiting the site it was not immediately apparent an image gallery was available.

Perhaps a "New to the site?" tutorial would be a good idea.

hmmn. Thank you. While on the one hand it is nice to know that there is, in fact, a big red button for voting on the pics, as requested, it's also terribly worrying that it has been there for years and years and I just never noticed it. :doh!:

perhaps an eyeball transplant might be in order. Or maybe a change of brain...:shame:

Most likely a change from red to green I think, would help. Red is associated with stop, green with go. We'll fix it.

From about 2003, news would pop up once per day (people hated the pop up), and then became a takeover that would show up once per day per user if you visited http://www.coolminiornot.com directly, and then after that it would be a random image. That confused the hell out of some people, so the news page became default in 2005, with the individual image pages starting later.

I agree definately needed!! Both the mobile version so I can submit pictures from my iPad which for some weird reason I cant do and also some change so that new submissions come up straight away would be two realy useful changes. Cant wait for an app!!

Alright, big red button changed to big green button. Hopefully that improves visibility.
