i like the skin on this one very much i fell thought that the metals need a wash of black or brown. Also gobbla seems a bit flat maybe some more contrast is needed here.

a 6.5

Hey Matty - nice work, have V&Cd. Looks like those new paints are really working for you - maybe you could ask your little lady to buy some for the rest of us? ;)

Thats a very nice mini you have there but it could use some dull coat and a little more contrast on gobbla and his tongue along with the bone parts on him and snarsnik\'s hat horn things. i voted also

A 5, mainly for the lack of highlights and the base (too much grass imo), the metal looks too clean and he is just a bit too glossy

Looks pretty decent. I like the base. Voted.

Just out of curiosity: what paints were you using before and how do the VMC differ?

Correct me if Im worng, but isnt voting supposed to be based on the model, and not by the time it took painting it? do you give models higher score because they\'re \"fast painted\"?

also, if it is a 7 when it \"needs matted and and some more highlights\", so if matted and highlighted, this would be a 8 or 9? ok, thats just hilarious lol

I don\'t think he scored on the fact i painted it in a couple of days, more the fact that it is a good job in such a short amount of time.

This photo does look really shiney, but in real life it is very mated, i can only pt it down to the fact that my lamp was about 6 inch away when i took the photo.

Highlights on gobbla go right into the oranges, but again im guessing the strong lamp light dulled down the brighter colours?

I suppose the painter is only as good as his photography.

@Hinton, i used to use Citadels and only had about 30 of them, now using the Vallejo model set i have 72 which means i barely have to do any mixing as i have lots of shades of the same colour. I prefer the dropper bottles apposed to flip lids, but that really is a personal preference.
Plus there is some really good \'cheating\' paints such as the transparents and ready made glazes which have been really handy!

Can i have a ninja burger too? They sound tasty!

if i think its a 7 i will give it a bloody 7 whats the point in voting someting really low when they paint better than ourselves becouse if we did all the really good minis would get very low

whats the poínt in giving it way higher point than it should? huh? then there would be no bad models, get what Im sayin?

Matty:

As far as Im concerned it doesnt matter really, a model is a model, time aint no criteria, really, the painting/modelling should be the factor-in-charge, weather you paint it in an hour or in one hundred, its the achievement that really is what matters, speed painting is no exeption, not in my eyes

Yes fair enough, but he didn\'t score it on the time taken. He was merely stating the fact that i have done a good paintjob in a short amount of time, as it normall takes me alot longer to do. Plus the fact that he is my brother means he knows how long it takes me to paint models. But just because he is related doesn\'t mean he gives me a higher score, he\'s my bigggest critic!

Plus Highbulp Billy gave it a seven, has he not scored it accordingly?

Did someone mention me? Yes, I gave this a seven and had no idea how long was taken over painting it. My scoring criteria takes in the colour choices, overall feel of the completed mini as well as quality etc. I place this comfortably 2 points above tabletop standard because that\'s what I think it\'s worth. I\'m not related to Matty but do think he\'s a nice enough guy ;)

This one too, is a 7 http://www.coolminiornot.com/143805, now, is this one underrated, or do you overrate Mattys? just a question

This is a mini voting site, you voted a 5, others voted 6, and others voted 7, i can tell this because the mini has setteled at 6.5

Fair enough cast your vote, and give your opinion on why you made that vote, but don\'t judge the votes of others.

But don\'t start preaching that everybody who has given a 7 has voted higher than it should be.

Nice work!

Nice work Matty - Avicenna bought me this model for Christmas, and I\'m really looking forward to painting him too.

I guess I echo other comments regarding some tonal qualities are required. If you give the weapon blades (or anything silver) a wash of black/brown ink mix, it will really add something. It will make the chain really pop. Remember - less is more, so several coats will look better than one really dark one and watch for those pools too! Make sure you water down the ink wash - a piece of advice I saw once, was to paint it onto a newspaper. If you can clearly read the text through the wash, you have it about right. You will need to spray matt varnish afterwards as inks can dry shiny too ;)

But all in all and considering the time taken, its really very good. :D
