Hi all,

As promised in another thread I will post some of my Skaven mini's who are not finished yet.

For the Clanrat standard bearer: Do you all have some tips for painting the banner? The overall theme of the army is a Clan Skryre army which has conquered a Dwarf Hall.

For the Poisoned Wind Globadier: Do you have any tips and ideas on how to continue? Are there any good OSL tutorials on the site and ones that discuss how to paint checkboard patterns?

I thank you in advance!

Good start for the painting of the first oneand I like your conversion of the globadier. For it, I think you could put the globe under his head and light the mask of the colour of the globe (I hope you understand what I mean, I'm not native English speaker).

We shall Inherit...

Great stuff you're working on, I've always loved the skavens as the undermining lot they are. I think I saw an image of a skaven banner somewhere saying 'We shall Inherit' below a skaven skull with glowing red eyes or maybe a painting of the face of the Horned Rat - that might be what you need?

Maybe add a net of wind globes in the belt and warplock pistol for your green stuff conversion - it looks good btw.

For your banner what about if you made it a patchwork of dwarf banners, to signify they've taken over and looted the place? Really nice work BTW love the globadier.

Thanks for the comments guys.

The patchwork banner idea is cool, perhaps I'll mix and match some skaven and some dwarf parts. Like one piece horned rat other piece dwarf rune thingy...

For the globadier, I like the idea of the globe under the mask. It will mean that I'll have to work with OSL I guess. Never did that before. Any tips?

Or you could do it as a dwarf banner that's been desecrated by the skaven with graffiti, that would be different.

For the OSL you just have to paint normally the area that will "receive" the light and then you do thin washes of the colour of your globe and after about 18-23 washes you'll get your effect. You also can paint the area with the colour of your globe but with a very thin layer and after 5-7 layers you'll get the effect. This technique is quicker but a bit less good. You also have to remember that if you're a bit far from the globe but that the part receive light, the light has to be almost invisible to get a realistic effect.

Nice work on the first one I like the color scheme he should turn out pretty cool. As for the banner I would second tallxiii's idea of the looted banner with graffiti or patchwork.

OSL I know nothing about but in the articles section and forums there is a ton of info, just do a search in both you'll reading for a good while also Shawn R. L.'s wip threads have a ton of tips on doing osl.

As for check patterns I just base coat the area an off white and use a micron technical pen or a hard tipped pencil and sketch the pattern out then fill the black in with the permanent pen then do a ruff fill in with black paint once the ink is dry. Then you can weather shade an what have ya.

Nice work so far on your conversion look forward to more!

Thanks guys! Does someone know where to find the OSL tutorial where someone paints the eyes of a grey space marine green with that technique? I'm pretty sure I saw that one here on coolmini...

Perhaps it's a bit vague but that's all the info I have :S That was a good tutorial as far as I can remember correctly.

The gobbo's are great for inspiration Rancid, thanks!
