thanks a lot friends

some relaxing therapy painting ahead, as ive always felt interested in whfb but also felt that the mass army thing made it impossible for me to ever think of to paint something to be able to play with, AoS is perfect. so im going to paint a few empire regiments (yes on square bases, looks better imo) to mix with some of regiments of my friends huge bretonnian army (he has enough bret miniatures for three armies)

it already feels bad after the "cleaning" process, only getting rid of the worst mouldlines. some swordsmen. scary guys eh?

So, you have finally succumbed to the evil darkness. ;)

So many questions arise. Will you ever paint anything non-gw again? How do you varnish your minis now that you play with them? Do you ever get tired of painting so many of the same?

oh man never thought about varnish. d'oh. but as its plastic it isnt all that important. and i probably wouldnt panic if some paint get chipped off.

im currently really into gw (fanboi alert!) but sure ill paint something else too, at least something from corvus corax kickstarter. time is still a shortage though.

this doesnt qualify as squad painting though as my goal is to finish these guys in 1-2 painting sessions ;P

but yeah, ill start the real HQ whfb regiment soon.

Skel, I totally understand the appeal of the gothic warhammer universe to you. And you should always paint what makes you happy. Personally, I just think everything else about GW overshadows the cool IP they have, and I am put off by that. :)

Congrats on another obe done. That squad base is very effective, but simple. I like how you make the GW minis fit your own universe instead of theirs.

Yes good to see the dogs finished :good:
Still reckon the dual would view better without the tree but hey ho there you go :)

Skel, sorry haven't been around lately but your thread is the first I come to check on and wow! have I missed out on some beauty. The duel, first, is amazing. You really make your acrylic glow somehow unlike anyone I have seen. Actually, reminds me of some of Banshee's stuff, the way you work your saturated with unsaturated colors. Brilliant.

What blows my mind more than anything though is the base. Where did you get that giant broken stone axe? The whole thing has a very primitive and primal feel to it. Just all very well composed, down to the flowers jutting from the top of the tree, to the cleaver and small shrubbery. Wondering where you get some of your smaller shrubbery type bits, and also those plants. Brass etch or paper? Anyway, very well executed my friend.

Cheers mate, like finn said the axe is from the original orc kit, i just switched the handle and broke it ;) the plants on the base is etched brass, the moss is from woodland scenetics, "premier coarse grass" the bag says. i mix it with wooden glue, some natural dirt and a little paint to a paste sort of. looks great imo. also some turfs from idontremember.
