I think that a lot of the Drune miniatures would suit you! Dark, twisted and cruel barbarians. Not that cartoony, either. Always was my fav faction of the Rackham stuff.

i do love the dirz faction, and will probably paint a clone or two. also love mid nor even if they are too cartoony for my painting-taste. ive promised to paint one for a friend so have no choice there. i got 15-20 blisters of rackham mid nor and goblins that i bought for 1-2 euro each at closing stores so the hardware is here at least lol

oh and some of the drunes look cool too, ill have my eyes open for them :good:

I painted a chaos army years ago, where i used Dirz clones as marauders. Lovely models.

Whomever made the decition to stop making metal miniatures should be flogged, hanged and shot

@marjedi - not to worry, there are still plenty of metal models out there :) Even GW still produce them - you just have to buy em direct off their website. If you want a model to make you feel all cuddly and warm at its sheer metal chunkiness, the Deathjack from PP is a good contender. Or, one of their big trolls like the Earthborn Dire Troll. Useful as a painted mini and as a weapon for taking out burglars :D

vampire counts

not much time for hobby last few days but ive finished the front image on my grave guard regiments banner. titled "Rebecca Von Carstein", which is the name of the vampire lord in the gang, its the newest female vampire lord miniature. tried to make her portrait in the banner, and yeah, im pretty happy with it considering the very little freehand ive done in my life so far :) image not making justice, as always.

banner1.jpg

its painted using a very limited palette; gw midnight blue, vallejo smoke, gw blood red, vallejo red and black+white in a very cold scheme. going to use it more or less for the whole regiment.

oh, and yeah, highlights of the banner is not done yet, of course

time to start the backside! phew... :)

quite aside from the freehand (which is lovely, btw) it's little things like the red/purple tinges to the blue at the edges of the banner that makes your work stand out, to me. It may still be a work in progress, but I'm already dumbfounded at the use of colour. Lovely stuff - keep up the good work, cant wait to see the finished article :)

might do some minor adjustments on the wings at the sides, but then again irl this is sooo small and look way better than this image. hmm.

didnt say it looked bad^^ it looks like a lovely freehand, and with it being sized up, things change alot. that face must be absolutely tiny:O

ah but you know im too much of a perfectionist to let it go :D done some things, think it looks better. like small claws on top of the bat wings.

Wow, that looks great! Limited palette? I'd say "just right" palette would be more correct. That free hand really looks cool. I'm eager to see the rest.

Stay Frosty

The banner is epicly good. The mini it self has gotte. Abit too dark, it is really hard to see what is what.

I know it is your style, but i think it lacks colour or definition somehow

BAH! You know what they say about excuses, and there is plenty of time to sleep when you are dead (unless you become a zombie. Do zombies sleep?).

Just kidding. Looks fantastic as always. I'm amazed at your level of talent.

NOW GET BACK TO PAINTING MEPH....errrr... I mean SkellettetS!

Huh, whu, Wha? Oi! :D I have no excuse of not painting nuffin'! If the lighting allows I'll take some picks of stuff I did lately, mainly varnishing and basing the 20-odd marines that are finished. Only one coat of airbrushed satin varnish is needed, and I managed to fix the damage to the weathering powders on the Land raider, and that one's been sealed as well.
As for the rest of my sluggish painting progress... Blame Battlefield 3!!!! ^^

But Skelette... ace stuff as always mate! That's another masterful piece in the pipeline. :D

Sorry - havent said much in here of late. Your work is, of course, top notch as always. The banner is very atmospheric, but tbh what I really like is how this mini just suits your style (or vice versa, I suppose). It would be fantastic to see a unit of these guys painted in the same way. (ok, very time consuming, granted, but the mini just reeks of old mouldy graves and tattered dry skin blowing in the spectral breeze. Kinda thing...)
